Attorney hired by County Board cited for soliciting a prostitute

Yikes…

Milwaukee County officials dumped a prominent local labor attorney from a case on Tuesday after learning he had recently been ticketed for soliciting a prostitute.

Richard Saks, a partner with the Milwaukee-based Hawks Quindel, was arrested on July 17 when Milwaukee police saw him embracing a 26-year-old woman in the front seat of an SUV at 3240 W. Hadley St., according to a police report.

The woman — who had crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her purse — said the two were getting ready to have sex, the report said. They had chosen that location, she told officers, so they would “not do this in front of any children.” They’d known one another, she said, for four years.

Saks was issued a citation for loitering and soliciting a prostitute. He has since paid the fine.

“Mr. Saks is no longer working for the Milwaukee County Board,” County Board spokesman Bill Zaferos said in a statement late Tuesday.

Saks had been hired by the County Board to review the provisions of Act 14, which greatly reduced the powers and pay of the County Board.

  1. If I’m not mistaken, Freida Webb was reporting to Chairwoman Dimitrijevic when she was found to be stealing money from those she was stealing for.

Enter Richard Saks. The relevance to me isn’t that some low-brow attorney sought to take sexual advantage of a drug addict. Similiar headlines have played out recently (with varying tragic results)
    http://www.wisn.com/news/south-east-wisconsin/milwaukee/Missing-man-found-dead-in-his-apartment-3-arrested/-/10148890/20826592/-/n1eknx/-/index.html

The relevance to me is that Saks and his firm, Hawks Quindel, were hand chosen by Marina through an extended vetting process. If I’m to understand what I’ve read, the Chairwoman had the authority to hire the firm (at the expense of local taxpayers) from her own desk. But she opted to throw it to committee in order that some semblance of consensus could be projected. And now we’re beginning to see why?

Have we blogged and tweeted ourselves “blue” in the face regarding the people of low moral fiber who surrounded Scott Walker in the CE office only to miss the rinse, repeat phase with Milwaukee County’s newest criminal magnet?

I’m not surprised a would-be respectable man solicited a prostitute. I’m not surprised Marina worked closely with him. But I WOULD be surprised if this is the last criminal story we read with “Dimitrijevic” and “Chairwoman” among the tags!

This story is just the beginning.

    1. While this is certainly a news story (hence the reason I posted it), I don’t know that Marina can be blamed for the behavior of Richard Saks. I don’t think anyone could have known Saks liked to frequent prostitutes.

    2. Ben,

I know you’re not responding to me, sniffle, sniffle, but why’d you leave out the good stuff about Frieda,

“…Webb was hired by then-County Executive Scott Walker and reported to him until 2005, when her office was placed under the oversight of the County Board.”

Ben, is someone compensating you, either directly or indirectly, to comment here? Down below, you accused me of thread hi-jacking. Unless you had the day off, somehow, you found time from where ever it is you work, to find this thread and take a Saks thread about a sex worker and use it to bash the Chair of the County Board.

You claim that “this is just the beginning.” If you know stuff, or you know others who know stuff, why not share it? This isn’t a court of law which runs on ADMISSIBLE evidence and you’re hiding behind a handle.

  2. Freida Webb was reporting to Lee Halloway. She was caught when Dimitrijevic became chair.

I am not sure why this is a story, other than the Journal Sentinnel and other Abele apoligists, trying to link this to the board. When the attorney was arrested he was taken off the case, as he should have been. It is not like Dimitrijevic has a time machine and knew he was going to be arrested yet hired him anyway.

    1. Read my comment above. It’s news because it involves a high-profile law firm hired by the County Board to help them fight Act 14.

However, as I wrote above, I don’t know that any reasonable person could hold Marina somehow responsible for Richard Saks’ behavior, because like you said there’s no way she could have known he enjoyed frequenting prostitutes.

      1. I’m not trying to blame the Chairwoman for the actions of another man. I’m suggesting that she has personal ties to people of low repute.
Would it be fair to say that the other side of this coin was sandblasted smooth when it was Walker’s associates being charged with crimes?

        1. Ben,

Thank you for defending the fraying moral fabric of America.

You wrote, “I’m not trying to blame the Chairwoman for the actions of another man.”

          1. Can you say anything nice about the Chair of the County Board? This would help dispel any doubts some readers might have about the sincerity of your statement.

          2. You wrote: “I’m suggesting that she has personal ties to people of low repute.”

          This is my lucky day.

I can finally learn about how to identify those of “low repute.” Please share ALL the best ways we can learn to discern persons of “low repute.”

Please provide as many examples as you can of all the people in Milwaukee County who come under the umbrella of “low repute.” My German Grandparents were very concerned that their eldest daughter was marrying a man of “low repute,” because he was IRISH.

        2. Ben, I was surprised on many levels by this,

“Would it be fair to say that the other side of this coin was sandblasted smooth when it was Walker’s associates being charged with crimes?”

Have I missed where you have written that the Milwaukee County D.A. made a mistake in NOT charging Gov. Walker?

If not, is the net of your statement that associating with people of “low repute,” is a positive and that your reference to the Chair of the County Board was to do more of the same?

Does Brian Pierick constitute as someone of “low repute?”

          1. I’ve made the mistake in the past of trying to engage you in reasonable dialogue. I won’t make that mistake again.
I have no interest in defining your semantics, reading your random links or looking down the scope of your pointed finger.
Need I remind you that you openly lied about me on Twitter and then covered your tracks behind a block and head-scratching self-righteousness when I called you on it?

I wish you luck John. But please stop wasting our time.

              1. I wouldn’t bother. You know who I am and what I’m talking about.

At any rate, this blog is about Richard Saks and I’m not going to help you hijack it.

And with that…my responses to John Casper and the rest of the Alex Jones crowd shall cease.

                Best in all things, John.

                1. Ben,

IIRC, this is the last time you addressed me.

“All of that,” was accurate. Your “thanks,” was for the information I left in a very long comment that contained THIRTEEN links.

Since you won’t respond, can you get someone else to post my alleged lying about you on Twitter and show examples of all my other alleged transgressions?

    2. Marina knew about the arrest weeks before her colleagues did. Why not mention it to them? Aren’t they defacto “clients” of Hawks Quindel?

Secondly, let’s not pretend the Chairwoman doesn’t have personal connections to the firm. Candice Owley (President of the Nurses Union)is a known contributor to Marina’s political ventures. And wouldn’t you know? She’s a client of Hawks Quindel! Always nice when two friends can secure tax dollars for a joint mission against collective bargaining law.

Lastly, I find it a tad odd that a progressive, female politician who is so involved with/ vocal about “women’s issues”, commented solely on the actions resulting from the arrest. And not the drug addicted female whom Saks has seemingly known for four years! That’s my kind of compassion.
