As someone who lives almost 350 miles from Milwaukee and only gets to read about the ongoing and bizarre antics of Sheriff David Clarke, it seems entirely possible to me that he’s actually Andy Kaufman.
I don’t have any evidence to swing the question one way or the other right now,( and the beauty of writing for a blog is that I don’t ever have to produce any), but I can certainly imagine Kaufman hatching a plan like this. It’s brilliant performance art.
So, what do you all think? Is David Clarke really Andy Kaufman?
David Clarke makes me look like a rational person by comparison, and I have a tendency to say some downright bizarre things.
I only get to read about Wisconsin politics via the internet, since I live in the east central part of Illinois. I wouldn’t say that David Clarke is Andy Kaufman reincarnated, but I will say that Clarke is a right-wing crank.

No. He’s clearly sick and needs help but no need to taint an excellent REM song by associating Kaufman with MKE’s clown sheriff.
