Former Scott Walker aide turned convicted felons seeks to have sentence, restitution reduced

According to this report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Tim Russell, a close confidant and aide to then-Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker who was revealed to have been engaging in illegal campaign activity on taxpayer time before being convicted of stealing from a veterans’ fund he controlled is seeking a reduction of his sentence.

A former aide to Gov. Scott Walker is appealing his two-year prison sentence for stealing money from a veterans group.

Timothy D. Russell is asking for a lesser term, claiming that Circuit Judge David Hansher mistakenly sentenced him for the more serious crime of misconduct in public office.

In addition to seeking a reduction in his sentence, Russell is also seeking to have his court-ordered restitution reduced by roughly $5,000 to just over $21,000.

The fact that Tim Russell is seeking to have his sentence and restitution reduced is disgusting, given that Russell was convicted of stealing from veterans.
