Barrett spokesman Jeff Fleming said the mayor, who marked his 60th birthday on Sunday, completed the 20-kilometer run, but ended up needing medical treatment for exhaustion. He was treated at the ice center and taken by ambulance to Froedtert Hospital.

  1. Dear Mayor Barrett
I hope tests reveal that you don’t have any serious heart issues. I was put in the hospital in March of 2009 when my oxygen level was low, my heart wasn’t pumping enough blood and my feet were swollen due to edema. I had the first of 2 echocardiograms and the first of 3 EKG’s in the ER. The next day we found out that I’d gone into congestive heart failure. I had a few other tests and a sleep study done to find out the cause. The sleep study revealed that I have sleep apnea. I use a Bi-Pap every night, and because of it my heart is right where it should be. Goren Rudic is my primary care doctor, and Muhammad Nadeem is my Pulmologist. I no longer need a cardiologist at this time. Whatever happens to you, be sure to put on a brave and happy face. That’s what I did for the most part while I was at St. Francis for 10 days. I also received Holy Communion everyday.
