If you’re reading this blog, you already know tomorrow is primary election day here in Wisconsin. With that in mind, I wanted to take a few minutes to make a few recommendations in some of the races across Wisconsin that have Democratic primaries.
Unlike some other folks, I won’t be encouraging Democrats to cross over and vote in Republican primaries, because I think it’s vitally important we Democrats vote in our primaries to ensure we get the best possible candidates on the general election ballots.
Here are my recommendations:
Statewide offices
Governor: Mary Burke
Lt. Governor: John Lehman
Attorney General: Jon Richards
State Treasurer: David Sartori
Milwaukee County
Milwaukee County Sheriff: Chris Moews
U.S. Congress
1st Congressional district: Rob Zerban
4th Congressional district: Gwen Moore
7th Congressional district: Kelly Westlund
State Senate
15th Senate district: Janis Ringhand
17th Senate district: Ernie Wittwer
State Assembly
8th Assembly district: JoCasta Zamarippa
10th Assembly district: David Bowen
19th Assembly district: Jonathan Brostoff
Please add Jeff Smith running for Assembly93 in Western Wisconsin. Jeff’s been on the assembly until the debacle of 2010 and we need him back.
Cat Kin
Cat, Jeff’s the only Democrat running in that race, which is why he’s not on this list. This is for contested Democratic primaries.
Zach, many thanks for picking Sup. Bowen in AD 10.
Bowen’s a great progressive, and I’d vote for him if I could.
I am supporting Happ and Leeper but otherwise I agree with these endorsements.
Hey, if Sartori and Richards win the primary at least we won’t have any snide remarks from Schimel about how our nominee for Treasurer is actually better qualified to be AG than our actual nominee for AG (Leeper was the Green County District Attorney for a time during the 70’s so he has experience as a prosecutor).
With you 150% on Happ and Leeper. Happ to me displays a, “will not be bought, equal application of the law,” attitude and Leeper’s declared intent to institute a state bank, loan state money to students (that business claims we need to better train) at 1.78% and several other common sense, speaking truth to big money and getting it back into the hands of regular people is not merely refreshing to hear, but deserves a chance to be tried. Solidly thought out financial policy and planning.
