Gov. Scott Walker: using “divide and conquer” to the bitter end

At a campaign appearance today in Pewaukee, Gov. Scott Walker continued the “divide and conquer” rhetoric he’s made a hallmark of his political career.

In the tightest race of his political career, Republican Gov. Scott Walker turned up the rhetoric Thursday by saying many voters in the liberal bastion of Madison are driven by anger and that his supporters need to counter that tide by showing up at the polls.

During an appearance in Pewaukee, Walker quoted former Gov. Tommy Thompson as saying, “Unfortunately, anger is a greater motivation than love.”

Walker’s use of rhetoric intended to “divide and conquer” to attempt to pit Wisconsin’s voters against each other should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention to Walker over the past three years.

Scott Walker’s “divide and conquer” campaign is the basest, most cynical, most negative approach I’ve ever seen a campaign take towards voters, and that’s saying something considering how negative and cynical politics can be.

  1. Somehow the words “reaping” and “sowing” come to mind here.

I think Scotty just found out that Dane County has as many people in it as Walkershaw and Washington Counties combined. And yes, we remember what you said about the town many of us CHOSE to live in.

  2. Ah ha! Oh wait… Liberals in this state are angry.

Pointing out the obvious isn’t “Dividing” it is pointing out the obvious.

    And psssttt (Jake)!

Mary Burke is not winning. She is a horrible excuse for a gubernatorial candidate. After her loss, the whiners will be out in full force, shouting from the roof tops that she was a poor candidate. Wait for it, we are a little over a week away from that reality.

    1. chris and your sock-puppet Chris,

I featured you both in this comment: http://bloggingblue.com/2014/10/video-a-public-servant-shares-her-story-of-act-10s-impact-on-her-family/comment-page-1/#comment-143420

Sadly and unfortunately I neglected to mention “intellectual immaturity” there.

Sadly and unfortunately for everyone else, whomever wins the election, you and many people like you will still NEVER learn, grow or change. The true deficit and burden this country and our state must bear.

    2. The whiners will be out in full force regardless of whether Burke wins or loses. She wins by 5 percent – a true Progressive would have won by 20 percent. She loses by 5 percent – she was a weak candidate from the start, Tate sucks, DPW sucks. Whiners always make sure they have a narrative and they’re always righteous.

    3. While I may have been skeptical of Mary Burke initially, I have to say she’s run about as good a campaign as I’ve seen from a statewide Democratic candidate. Her campaign has had good message discipline, and they’ve stood up to withering attacks from Gov. Walker and his Koch-funded backers.

  3. Considering his well-known dislike of Madison, it’s a good thing he spends so little time there.

    1. I know how to help him spend even less time in Madison… 🙂

I may be angry but I’m not vindictive. I only want what’s best for soon-to-be-ex-Governor Walker, who apparently can’t walk away from the power and attention on his own. Since his so-called “friends” refuse to intervene that’s left up to we who can see what’s really going on.

      1. Lol fail

Yep that is about the best response you can Give.

Mark my words the end is near on her joke campaign. And it is not going to end in a victory for her so sorry so sorry.

The only division that is going on in the state of Wisconsin will be by the Liberals dividing up the blame for Burke as a candidate for governor

          1. He doesn’t realize his own party co-chair Sharon Day was talking about him as being the “dull knife in the drawer.”
