Watchdog group files complaint alleging Gov. Scott Walker violating federal campaign finance laws

Earlier today a watchdog group filed a complaint accusing Gov. Scott Walker and his national nonprofit group of accepting contributions in violation of federal election laws.

The American Democracy Legal Fund released a complaint to the Federal Elections Commission saying Walker “is testing the waters for a campaign for president of the United States,” and using his 527 political group, Our American Revival, “as his exploratory committee, and in doing so is raising and spending funds that are beyond the contribution limits and source restrictions of the Federal Election Campaign Act.”

Citing press reports, the complaint says Walker’s group received at least two donations of $25,000 and $100,000. Individual contributions to an exploratory committee are limited to $2,700, the complaint states.

Last week the group filed a similar complaint with the FEC related to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s political action committee “Right to Rise.” Bush and Walker are considered top-tier contenders for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

  1. “John Doe”, Billion Dollar Loans, “Draconian cuts in education”, why don’t these people just spend their time and money get voters to vote Scotty and his minions out. The courts are owned by ALEC.

  2. Let’s be honest. Nothing will come of this at all. Campaigns are scummy and getting worse by the day, but there’s no general accountability or real penalties for playing dirty.
