New poll shows Russ Feingold leading Sen. Ron Johnson by double digits

I’m just gonna leave this right here.

A new poll finds former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) beating Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) by double digits in the 2016 race for Johnson’s senate seat.

The Marquette University Law School poll released Thursday found that 54 percent of registered voters say they would support Feingold in a 2016 matchup, while 38 percent said they would support Johnson.

Another 9 percent said they weren’t sure who they would support.

  1. If the turnout is low and Walker’s unjust voting law hinders voters, then it’s a tie.

  2. Wonder if Wisconsin’s Democratic voters can be prevailed upon to actually turn up and vote? Given they decided last time that it wasn’t worth trying to keep one of the finest Senators in the country in office, I have limited expectations.

    1. I think enough people are paying attention that they will turn out, especially in a presidential election year.

    2. Emma,

W/R/T GOTV I need Dems must take a rifled approach to different demographics

She and her friends consider liberals and progressives to be “sell outs” just as much as Dems and GOP. If she votes, it will be for green or communist or Socialist candidate. She’s a very strong feminist, but I frankly don’t know if there’s any way ever to get her back to voting Dem.

Yesterday I got my hair cut from the same woman who has been cutting it for eleven years. She’s a strong feminist, but I bet she only votes in presidential elections. She had no idea that Rep. Sargent proposed legalizing pot. First, she wants it legal. Second, she’d like the tax revenue from it to lower her property taxes. I forgot to ask her if she had heard that Walker wanted to ban abortions after 20 weeks. She doesn’t watch the news or get the JS. I bet she doesn’t know. She’s on her feet all day cutting hair. She goes home and watches HBO to get a break. In her spare time, she tends her garden and fixes stuff with her home.

IMHO job one for Dem GOTV is hiring someone really good, to listen every day to Sykes, Belling, Vicki, and the rest of wingnut radio. They need to document what’s the topic per segment, along with who is advertising. Think that was part of Graeme Zielinski’s job. Then they need to feed a web site with competing messaging that’s accessible. We can’t let wingnut radio control the conversation. At a minimum, we have to find ways to get the D’s message out. Since the media won’t do it, Dem party/labor have invest.*

GOTV has got to be a 365-day job and the message has to SEPARATE D’s from R’s with all the different demographics. You’re correct, part of the problem with some people who don’t vote is laziness. But, imho, that’s by far from the only reason.

OT, couple days ago, I got a robo call from wingnut Congressman Reid Ribble talking about a job fair in Green Bay. No idea why he called Milwaukee, but why aren’t Dem’s doing that? It makes the GOP look strong on jobs when we know they aren’t.

*One of the funnier aspects of the new arena plan has been watching how am radio has thrown a monkey wrench into public finding. Gov. Walker, Sen. Fitzgerald, and Rep. Vos all understand that they do NOT want the Bucks to leave on their watch. It will define their political careers. So, I’m sure they are all begging Sykes, Belling, Vickie,… to reverse course on bashing public funding. Of course Sykes, Belling, and Vickie don’t want to/can’t pull a 180 on their core message over the last few decades.
