New York Mayor Bill de Blasio to skip Hillary Clinton presidential announcement in NYC

Well this is interesting…

Mayor Bill de Blasio will not attend former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign kickoff — even though it’s happening in his city.

Clinton is expected to officially launch her campaign Saturday at the Franklin D. Roosevelt memorial on Roosevelt Island.

De Blasio’s press secretary said Wednesday that he would not attend.

As noted in the Associated Press report, Mayor de Blasio has made public comments supportive of Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, both of whom are true progressives, and given his history with Hillary Clinton – he served as campaign manager for her 2000 Senate campaign – de Blasio’s decision to skip Clinton’s presidential campaign announcement can’t be seen as anything but a slight.
