Did Scott Walker Kill Over 110 Milwaukeeans This Year

Let’s go back to the presidential campaign trail for a moment and remember when Candidate Walker suggested that President Obama was responsible for the police killings that occurred this year. Yes…that’s just as absurd and over the top as my headline.

Well except that my headline has some truth hiding in it…between the effects of recent state budgets and playing absentee governor while violence has risen in Milwaukee…Governor Scott Walkers attitude toward the city has gone from benign neglect to reckless abandon. So he has some responsibility here…there has been very little help coming from Madison.

So when Mayor Barrett looks for help, he knows better than to approach the state legislature…they are too busy regulating school restrooms to pay attention to urban murder rates…so he turns to the feds:

With the number of homicides in Milwaukee climbing to the highest level in a decade, Mayor Tom Barrett is joining with other mayors to call for more help from the federal government.

Barrett and others want the FBI to notify local authorities immediately when someone trying to purchase a gun fails a background check. They also want local police departments to be able supplement their personnel with federal agents on key cases, and want U.S. attorneys to partner with local prosecutors when suspects can be charged with federal crimes — especially if those offenses involve illegal gun possession and trafficking.

Barrett was in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday meeting with federal officials as well as mayors and police chiefs from other cities that are also experiencing a spike in homicides.

“It’s not as though any of us came with any animosity toward the federal government,” he said. “It just was we need some help here.”

It’s time governor…time to govern for all of the people in Wisconsin…a couple of bucks for shotspotter ain’t gettin’ the job done. When are you going to actually help?

  1. Ed, how can he continue his racist divide and conquer strategy if he helps…them?
