The Election Season of Magical Thinking: STOP IT!

I don’t think I can remember and delineate all of the wild suppositions and conspiracy theories and miracle side steps that were tossed around in the past year as favored candidates fell by the way side. And I don’t have the energy to go back and search them all out…it sucks the life out of my soul. But from the Bernie Bros to the super delegates to the emails to the rigging to the ‘devious’ DNC to the Russians to the FBI to goodness gracious what next!

But tomorrow, Donald Trump will be elected President of the United States. Some faithless electors may cast a ballot for someone else other than Mr. Trump, but it won’t be for Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump will win the electoral college vote tomorrow. Donald Trump will be inaugurated on January 20th 2017.

Stop thinking otherwise. Now is the time to get involved and oppose his agenda. Now is the time to support those electeds who will provide leadership in government. Now is the time to work with potential candidates for 2018 and 2020 who can step into the breach when the Trump regime fails.

But stop thinking the electoral college will do anything of historical significance tomorrow. (and I mean you too DFA who just sent out a stupid email suggesting we can sway the EC…sheesh…this shit is why we lost)

  1. And what if they rig elections in the next 2 years to make it near-impossible to win? And what if they control propaganda to trick the rubes? Your faith in the institutions is precious…and like our president, it is a foolish faith.

The EC exists precisely to stop people like Trump and his band of fascists from being president. Explain to me why another Republican who won’t destroy the country isn’t a better choice than Drumpf?

I’m running out of legit options to take, because I don’t believe GOPs will play fair, nor will they fairly hand over power. And why would anyone with a brain that’s observed GOP rule in Wisconsin and North Carolina believe they would? #resist.

    1. I don’t have faith in institutions anymore. I am willing to write off the DPW at this point. And no the GOP will not begin to play fair until Trump’s regime digs us a hole we may never got out of.

But I do believe in people and I am hoping they can reshape our institutions so that they can be effective.

If not there are no legit options to take. But until you or someone else comes up with a better option I will ask the people to get involved and do what they can.

  2. BTW: I got another silly email from Move On suggesting I can sway the electors to change their votes…wtf?

    1. It reminds me of the DPW emails from a couple years ago: “Donate three dollars and help stop Scott Walker’s ‘right to work’ legislation!”

Emails like this are completely insulting, and give people false hope.

  3. The thing I find annoying is, based on my social media feeds, the people that were demanding Trump accept the election results back when they thought he was going to lose are now demanding the election results be thrown out since he did.

I don’t like how this went down either but he won the contest based on the rules of the contest.

    1. I accept that Trump “won”, but when the popular vote winner is not the “winner” twice in the past 16 years, it’s clear the Electoral College is stupid and should be done away with.

  4. Yes, Trump won the election fair and square by outsmarting Hillary in concentrating on key elector voting states.

And so now we see, with horror, Trump’s Cabinet and other potential appointees who could care less about pollution, and would “replace” Obama Care, and who would reform or privatize Medicare and Social Security,

So this is just the beginning of Trump’s fleshing out of his campaign slogan from “Make America Great Again” to “Make Americans Grovel Again.”

God forgive us for allowing the election of an immoral, ignorant, disturbed, human being and grant us the strength to peacefully reject and remove him from the highest office in the United States of America.

    1. In the meantime and as a plan to help us focus on the positive to “…reshape our institutions…”, let us consider the restorative offerings from Paul Fanlund in this morning’s Cap Times,, “In 2017 Politics,, five ways to make a difference.”

  5. This insight from a reliable source appears to allow for more opinions and accusations of a president or a president elect than of an ordinary citizen or other elected officials.

As I recall, some years ago, no critics were allowed in Germany and Italy! Thank God we have Fox and Rush and freedom of speech for ordinary citizens under our Constitution!
