All good things must come to an end

I’ll admit – I thought this post would be easier to write, but as I’m sitting here at my keyboard, I’m finding it difficult to come up with the right words.

So I’ll just come out with it – I’m handing over control of Blogging Blue to Ed Heinzelman effective February 1st. Ed’s a great blogger, but more importantly he’s a great friend, and there’s no one I trust more than him to lead this community moving forward.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and while I’m ceding control I hope to be a sporadic contributor as the mood strikes me, and before I sign off, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this community, whether as a contributor, commentor, or critic, because each of you have made this into the close-knit community it is. I’ll always be thankful to have been a part of this community and for the friendships and experiences that I’ve gained because of this community, so thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.

You all are in very capable hands with Ed, and I look forward to seeing Blogging Blue continue to grow under his leadership.

  1. Zach, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” from Mathew 25.23 may be applicable as you move on to other callings personal and family in your life.

Personally, I thank you for a forum to cry out, to laugh, to inform, to differ civily, to learn and seek answers, and to commiserate.

  2. Sending you a heartfelt thanks for the work you delivered post after post about the issues that we confronted and which demanded our attention. Blogging is not always easy with time factors or the maddening events that play out in search of solutions. You have been a source of news and passion, and as such you can rest assured of being missed. A hug to you from this desk of mine.

  3. It’s going to be very difficult to follow Zach…but he set a good example to learn from!

  4. Zach, I have enjoyed Blogging Blue. I thought you were fair and reminded everyone to be level headed when things went over the line. Hope to see you still contributing in the future.

  5. Thanks for your hard work over the years. I’m sure Ed will do a great job continuing this blog.

  6. Wow, congratulations, Ed, and a different congratulations to Zach. That’s a big decision and a big move. I think it will do well in Ed’s hands.

Zach, thanks for keeping the torch burning for so many years. I know it ain’t easy, but like many things, it is necessary.

  7. It’s been entertaining. Zach, if you find yourself in the only county in Wisconsin without a traffic light, stop into our bar. We’ll save a stool for ya and all your beer will be free (best bring a designated driver).

    All the best,

    Nemo

  8. No, all good things must continue (not end).

Thanks Zach, Ed, and others for great critical thinking and for providing a voice for many. Goodness and greatness must prevail.

  9. Haven’t been around much for quite some time…just to poke my head once in awhile. But on this occasion, I wanted to make sure I posted to say thanks Zach, you’ve created something really special here. I’m sure in the beginning and for much of the time, it was a labor of love – but I’m equally certain that it took a great deal of work. So again, thank you. I’ve moderated on some message boards – fostering good discussions on an open forum, allowing a wide range of opinions while managing the…garbage that will sometimes find it’s way aboard – well it can truly be a Herculean task and yet one that you handled exceptionally well.

Best wishes to Ed going forward as well. I’m sure he’ll carry the torch well.

  10. Zach,

I started blogging for you in 2011, I believe. I’d never done it before. You let me go rogue, which no opinion page editor had ever done. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but I’ll never be able to thank you enough for letting me post my trio of pieces about the GOP WI state legislators who wanted to criminalize the implementation of Obamacare, featuring my all-time best title ” First Crack in Assclown Caucus, or First Clown Leaves Ass Crack Caucus.” You’re a courageous man, Zach.

    Thanks.

    One more time.

  11. Revolution, evolution, thanks Zach and Ed, my best to both of you for your efforts, here.
