Democrats Behaving Badly: Playing Walker Bingo At the State of the State

Daniel Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that State Representative Gordon Hintz created a little Governor Walker bingo game and passed it out to Democratic legislators for use during the governor’s State of the State address. Now I am hardly a fan of Governor Walker but he is still governor of Wisconsin until 2018. And if the dems want to have any semblance of respectability going into the 2018 elections…they need to act like responsible adults.

Republicans were not happy that Democrats weren’t focused on the governor’s largely ceremonial talk to the joint session of the Legislature.

At this point I wouldn’t mind seeing them all replaced by dems who want to do the job!

On the other hand:

…the Walker administration did not give them (the Democratic legislators) a transcript of the governor’s talk, the first time Hintz said this has happened. Instead, they were given highlights of Walker’s remarks.

  1. The MJS article concludes: “[Democrats] can’t even win a game that they created” – presumably because nobody completed a “Bingo.” Methinks Mr. Bice missed the larger point: Guvvie long ago forfeited any claim to respect from either side of the aisle. At this point, and to alleviate the boredom of sitting through more of the same old same old, the Democrats may be excused for having a little fun playing a game based on predictable, worn out talking points.

  2. Childish and stupid. This story almost makes me angry that I just renewed my DPW membership. It’s clear Democratic leadership in the state senate and state assembly have no cohesive plan for fighting back against the GOP. Maybe they don’t even want to.

    1. Now is the time to become not just a member but active in the party. Nothing will change if we don’t make the change.

  3. At first I was angry when I read this blog by a dear friend, now I only see humor in the whole subject. No one actually “plays bingo”. It is to show just how predictable the Governor is. How many times have we heard him say ” Wisconsin is winning” or ” We don’t have a job shortage, we have a worker shortage”. Or how many times he winks and points, or smirks and nods his head.
The republicans and the Governor made it clear that we don’t matter to them when the democrats got only excerpts of his speech while they were delivered the entire speech.
So yes, we listened to his BS speech, some of us even took notes, but don’t expect me or my dem colleagues to applaud and smile for a man whose policies have done nothing but support the rich and powerful by taking it off the backs of the working class…BINGO!

    1. And distinguishing between the state Democratic legislators and the DPW itself, who couldn’t muster a candidate against WI SC Justice Kingsland Ziegler, Scooter Bingo is finally an actual plus for them on the effectiveness side of political action for once. More that can be said for the DPW.

  4. I enjoy it immensely when Democrats act with the maturity of small children who haven’t yet learned to control their emotions and actions when they are faced with outcomes that they don’t like.

I hope they keep doing it! Perhaps when it comes time to cast votes, they can depart for Illinois again; indeed, the ultimate ‘take my toys and go home!’

  5. Considering that last year lawmakers took advantage of an evacuation of the Capitol to drink, and at least one almost certainly came back to work drunk, I think we can cut these folks some slack. Bingo? At least they didn’t start a drinking game.

  6. Yep, kettle acceptable ways of Democratic dissent just as Native American, NO DAP protestors are kettled with dogs, rubber bullets and water cannon, or Occupy protestors are literally fenced (corraled with plastic snow fence) or whatever other protest you can think of that has been illegally and physically quashed and our constitutional rights to free association and expression now need to meet some imagined civility censorship test for the good of the party?
