President Donald Trump tweeted, “My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting.

and he continues:

No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.

Then fix it. Fix it. You actually have the power and authority to do something about this. Unlike most of the other wimps in the Republican Party you don’t need to be beholden to the National Rifle Association.

If you haven’t seen the news and don’t know what I am referring to: At least 17 dead in ‘horrific’ Florida school shooting, suspect had ‘countless magazines’

The suspect was arrested with what was reportedly an AR-15 style weapon and multiple magazines. And all we can get out of Washington and Tallahassee are thoughts and prayers. Yet a classroom’s worth of CHILDREN died just for being at school.

When will enough be enough?

  1. The guns don’t shoot by themselves. The schools are partly the blame. Spend that money make the school secure. Add medal detectors, security guards per size of student population. Don’t take anything for granted. Know your students !

  2. Schools shouldn’t have to spend valuable resources on the type of security you suggest. Like METAL detectors. Several news reports have stated that Broward County schools including this one have police officers stationed inside. Every teacher or administrator is supposed to know all 3,000 students in a school of that size? Not likely.

I’ll support your don’t take anything for granted: don’t know which domestic terrorist will get the whim to shoot up a school? Make sure they can’t get the weapons to do it.
