Today the White House announced that General Jim Mattis has resigned from his position as Secretary of Defense effective February 28, 2019. After the president’s treatment of the various generals who have served in his regime…and the manner in which he has handled the military conflict in Syria these past few days…where the heck is he going to find a competent appointee who will want to run the Pentagon??
In the past pundits and activists have objected to the elections of Presidents Clinton and Obama because they lacked military experience. Yet they have no problem with President Trump. It seems the former presidents listened to their defense leaders…while the incumbent ignores them. What could possibly be more dangerous in the realm of national defense?
