Yesterday Was Independence Day, Not Memorial Day

Beyond all the complaints about the “Independence Day” celebration on the National Mall yesterday…and many of them are accurate and rationale…I think someone needs to tell the president that yesterday was INDEPENDENCE DAY and not Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Those last two days are clearly and correctly set aside to honor our war dead and our veterans. Yesterday was not that day.

Yesterday was for honoring our nation’s initial awareness and commitment (although limited at the time – and still coming into full understanding as we progress), that ALL men are created equal and we all have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!
