WTF? After denying any wrong doing and originally pleading not-guilty to charges of misuse of campaign funds, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R- CA) is accepting a plea deal on one count. But it isn’t apparent if he’ll resign from the House of Representatives.

Hunter and his wife were charged last summer with using more than $250,000 in campaign funds to pay for personal expenses including family vacations, theater tickets and school tuition.

And so far, I haven’t heard a peep out of the GOP House leadership…Rep. Devin Nunes should be standing over Rep. Hunter’s desk while he hand writes his resignation letter and then carrying it directly over to the House while Mr. Hunter cleans out his desk!

It was not immediately clear whether he would resign his seat after pleading guilty.

But apparently things weren’t going his way and a plea deal was in his personal best interests…they even flipped his wife:

In June, his wife, Margaret Hunter, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring with her husband to spend $25,000 in campaign funds for personal use. As part of the deal, Margaret Hunter agreed to cooperate with prosecutors and testify against her husband.

But even with a guilty plea today, it will probably be months before he’s sentenced and even longer before he reports to prison…so he could stay in the House for that entire period unless forced out.

I don’t agree with the continued GOP support of a corrupt president, but I understand why they think it necessary. But I don’t for a moment understand why GOP leadership doesn’t toss this guy out in the street immediately after his plea.

Hunter told KUSI on Monday that he wants the public to know he “did make mistakes” but that “not a single dime of taxpayer money is involved in this.”

“I did not properly monitor or account for my campaign’s money,” he said.

The seat was previously held by Hunter’s father, Duncan L. Hunter Sr.

yeah…that’s it…it didn’t include tax payer money and his was entitled to his father’s seat…that would be an entitlement?
