For weeks we’ve heard the continuous prattle out of the GOP from Robin Vos to anyone and everyone in the US Senate…that the do nothing House Democrats needed to pass the USMCA immediately for the good of the nation…while all ‘the Dems’ cared about about was impeachment, impeachment, and impeachment.

Well the House not only put together a USMCA that will pass with bipartisan support, they did it while running the impeachment inquiry, and they did it while negotiating a few tweaks with the White House. Go figure!

So now what happens? Well the GOP controlled Senate can’t take it up until…well…until after the impeachment!

“The Senate will take up Trump’s renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement only after an impeachment trial concludes in the chamber, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday.

‘We will not be doing USMCA in the Senate between now and next week,’ the Republican from Kentucky said at a news conference on Capitol Hill. ‘That will happen, in all likelihood, right after the trial is finished in the Senate.’

McConnell also said the renegotiated trade pact is “not as good as I’d hoped,” differing with White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who said in a statement around the same time that the final version of USMCA is the ‘biggest and best trade agreement in the history of the world.’

emphasis mine

This is pretty existential WTF moment! Look at the fine print..Sen. McConnell is going against the president on one of the president’s signature achievements.

P.S. What do you say we get the Village People to record a new version of their hit song but names it USMCA?
