There is a whole family of coronaviruses that cause all types of respiratory illnesses in humans (and animals), including the common cold. Most of them aren’t that dangerous, although some are, like SARS or MERS. So we are doing the whole world a disfavor by continuing to use the label coronavirus for the pathogen coming out of Wuhan China. YES, it is a coronavirus…but it is not THE coronavirus.
