How Long Will Dr. Fauci Last Now?

I have seen several social media items saying that President Donald Trump is concerned with Dr. Fauci’s factual and scientific rebuttals of the president’s wild assed comments about COVID-19. Some have even quoted the NY Times but I haven’t found anything quite so direct. But there is this at the moment:

President Trump has praised Dr. Anthony S. Fauci as a “major television star.” He has tried to demonstrate that the administration is giving him free will to speak. And he has deferred to Dr. Fauci’s opinion several times at the coronavirus task force’s televised briefings.

But Dr. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, has grown bolder in correcting the president’s falsehoods and overly rosy statements about the spread of the coronavirus in the past two weeks — and become a hero to the president’s critics because of it. And now Mr. Trump’s patience has started to wear thin.

So has the patience of some White House advisers, who see Dr. Fauci as taking shots at the president in some of his interviews with print reporters while offering extensive praise for Mr. Trump in television interviews with conservative hosts.

Despite the fact that Dr. Fauci is a President Ronald Reagan appointee and not a holdover from a more liberal administration, we all know the president’s penchant for firing people who don’t agree with him…or worse yet put forth an opposing view point. And of course science isn’t a strong point with this regime.

Are the Vegas books still on line? What’s the point spread on Dr. Fauci retiring?

But the bigger question…if the president forces him out in the middle of this pandemic…how many of the Republicans in Washington will cover for him this time? How much blood in the streets will they tolerate before enough is enough?

And what will the American people think about losing the one voice of scientific reason at the White House podium?

  1. Hannity and Ingram are already on board. Their shows tonight were total nonsense. Even that tv quack Oz was on talking like a nit-wit. Even money Fauci is gone by friday.

  2. It looks like Trump is listening more to the business people and less to the public health people. The business side wants their roaring economy back and it will be at the expense of our medical system and of many human lives.
