Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was spouting President Donald Trump’s talking point that President Barack Obama had left the nation without a plan to handle a pandemic. Whoops…not true.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Thursday he was mistaken in claiming that the Obama administration had failed to leave a pandemic playbook for the Trump White House.

“I was wrong,” McConnell said in an evening interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier. “They did leave behind a plan. So, I clearly made a mistake in that regard.”

emphasis mine

I am not surprised that this has been a mantra from President Trump. He is willing to lie with fervor, particularly around anything related to President Obama. But I can’t believe that Sen. McConnell has so totally sold his soul to the president that he had to repeat something he had to know wasn’t true.
