  1. While I agree that 1006 (1011 as I write this) is a lot, and too many, I don’t think you can claim that 100% of the deaths were preventable. It could be fewer if more people would take this situation more seriously, but I don’t think there is any way we could have kept it at 0.

    1. IF the federal government had taken swift and effective immediate action when the virus first arrived in the United States it may have been contained in the initial coastal hot spots. Other nations managed to do things like that. But given the freedom of movement and the ability to use it that Americans enjoy, you are probably correct that we couldn’t have had zero deaths…but probably very close.

    2. OTOH: given the political environment we currently suffer through…if I don’t use hyperbole…I am not doing my job!
