A First Time Presidential Endorsement: Scientific American

A few nerdy friends and I used to love Scientific American back in high school. But I wasn’t even sure that it was still around…but they are…and they still back science! And they apparently aren’t big on politics except that the current regime in the White House is so anti-science that it hurts. So apparently for the first time ever, Scientific American has made an endorsement for president.

Scientific American on Tuesday endorsed Joe Biden, the first presidential endorsement in the magazine’s 175-year history.

Its editors said they felt “compelled” to do so because President Trump’s well-documented rejection of science, from climate change to the coronavirus, has cost tens of thousands of American lives.

The rest of the article goes into detail about President Trump’s failures around the COVID-19 pandemic and of course his outright denials about climate change…but their summation is rather damning:

“The 2020 election is literally a matter of life and death,” the magazine added in a tweet. “We urge you to vote for health, science and Joe Biden for President.”
