Ron Johnson Suggests Absentee Ballot Counting Start Before November 3.

As most of readers should know by now, in Wisconsin, absentee ballot counting can’t start before the polls open on November 3rd. With the volume of absentee ballots expected for this election, the counting may continue well into November 4th or longer.

Not having election results the night of the election is troubling to a lot of people…and maybe for this particular election this may truly be problematic. But without the blessing of the technology from the 20th Century forward, for most of this nation’s history, election results might not have been available for weeks. So, huh??

But apparently Senator Ron Johnson (R – WI) is suggesting that the Wisconsin legislature meet and change the law to allow absentee balloting to begin prior to November 3rd. Is quarantine getting to him?

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said he hopes that Wisconsin’s Legislature will meet to make definitive laws about when absentee mail-in ballots can be counted during the upcoming November election.

“I am highly concerned that the results will not be known on election night because of this massive increase of mail-in balloting,” Johnson said. “It takes days or weeks to find out who the winner is.

“I think we should change the law so the ballots can be counted well before Election Day, so that Wisconsin results are known by 9, 10, 11 o’clock on Election Day, so Wisconsin isn’t part of the problem,” Johnson said.

Despite Senator Johnson’s suggestion, I don’t expect any movement in Madison.

  1. Mmmmmm, yeahhh (in my best “Bill Lumbergh” impression). Maybe he should have been working on this instead of spending the 4th of July in Moscow, or looking for shit on Joe Biden’s kid?
