Zerban & Pull Ryan

There’s an interesting AMA (ask me anything) interview with Rob Zerban over on Reddit.  Apparently, the Reddit community is experimenting with flexing it’s political mobilization muscles, and as part of a test campaign called Operation Pull Ryan, they are throwing their support behind Zerban, to see how much of an impact they can make.  He’s [...]

Jobs… or Fascism? (dun dun dun!)

Obama’s speech was sober and reasonable by most accounts, and seems to have had little that right-wingers found particularly objectionable – at least, there hasn’t been quite the usual torrent of outrage that follows most everything else the President does.  The most amusing thing I have found so far has been obtuse but popular “law [...]

Report from the Neo-Nazi Rally in West Allis

Just got back from the rally.

There were between 200 and 250 cops in full-on riot gear, about 10 on riot-gear-clad war horses, some kind of riot tank, many cop cars, ambulances, etc.

Between 1,000 and 2,000 anti-Nazi protestors lined the streets.

Between 50 and 100 Neo-Nazi’s showed up in “White Pride World Wide” shirts, [...]

Budget Will Increase Unwanted Pregnancy

Just wanted to point out the gender dimension of the new budget.  A lot has been made of the underlying class warfare in the Wisconsin Republican/Tea party lately.  And while that is certainly a major impetus behind their Reverse-Robinhood policies, it’s easy to focus our anger and indignation on that, to the neglect of other [...]

If having $686 mil is “broke” then sign me up

Wisconsin finds a money tree with $686 million unexpected dollars on it. Should we re-instate all collective bargaining rights with this windfall? Nah, that’s communism. Restore funding to our schools? Nah, we don’t neeeed no steeenking schools. How about filling up a swimming pool and letting the Koch brothers swim around in it like Scrooge [...]

Compromise on the National Stage

So what do we think about the compromise on the federal budget?

Some have conjectured that the Tea Party’s angle was to intentionally force a shut down, to show the American people that we can get by just fine without a Big Fancy Government – indeed, that it would “barely be noticed.”

On the contrary, [...]

Good Thing Walker’s Not Smarter

So it’s easy to be totally engrossed in the unbelievable drama unfolding in our own state.  But, apparently, similar shenanigans are going on in Indiana, from whence their Dems have also taken shelter in Illinois to prevent a quorum on a union-busting vote.  Sounds like isomorphic behavior on the part of power-mad Tea party governors.  [...]

Man Arrested at Site of Tucson Shooting

According to this report, the man, who is an instructor at Pima Community College (which Jared Lee Loughner attended), was “sitting in front of the store in a ‘yoga position’” and chanting the phrase “We are the ones you have been waiting for.”  The Safeway manager asked him to leave, but he would not, invoking [...]
