for the Reagan Republicans in the room…

“These gentlemen [Afgan Fighters] are the moral equivalents of America’s Founding Fathers” ~President Ronald Reagan 1985

‘In 1982, Ronald Reagan dedicated the Space Shuttle Columbia to the resistance fighters [Taliban] in Afghanistan.’

Sensenbrenner doesn’t support our veterans

Every Sunday the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel runs the feature: Congress Following the Vote. For those of you who haven’t seen it, the MJS runs a short explanation of the major legislation in Washington from the previous week with a short synopsis of the bill and the voting record of Wisconsin’s House and Senate delegations. [...]

Michael Steele has a serious case of foot in mouth disease

While Vice President Joe Biden may be a walking gaffe machine, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele certainly isn’t much better. Speaking at at a fundraiser in Noank, Connecticut, Steele stated the war in Afghanistan was a war of President Barack Obama’s choosing, as opposed to being a war President Obama inherited. Listen for [...]

The not quite ready for prime-time candidate

Terrence Wall, whose previous foray into seeking elected office ended with a failed campaign for a spot as a trustee in the village of Maple Bluff really really wants to be Wisconsin’s next U.S. Senator. In fact, he wants the job so badly he’s willing to run a scorched earth negative campaign eerily reminiscent [...]

Obama announced to Americans in a primetime nationally televised address that he has ordered the deployment of 30,000 [...]

Obama to send more troops to Afghanistan?

According to McClatchy, President Barack Obama is nearing a decision to send more than 30,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan next year.

As I’ve written before, I think sending additional U.S. military forces to Afghanistan is a terrible idea. In focusing our time, money, and military might in Afghanistan, we’ve only pushed the [...]

DoD issues new rules on photos of killed soldiers

As reported by Josh Gerstein of Politico, the Department of Defense have eased the rules that had been in place which banned embedded journalists from publishing photos or video of American soldiers killed in action there, according to ground rules issued Thursday.

The earlier ban on photos of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan read, [...]

My thoughts on the war in Afghanistan

In making the case for continued American military involvement in Afghanistan, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California argued on Sunday’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos that it’s all about the women:

Feinstein then broke out the latest trendy, new-for-fall reason why we need to up the ante in Afghanistan — it’s all about the [...]
