The Right Wreaks Institutionalized Homophobia in VA

VA Attorney General sends letter to public colleges and universities telling them to eliminate any policies banning job discrimination for gays and lesbians. This bigotry is yet a further example of why ENDA needs to pass now.

2009 spring election results

The results are in, and it’s been a good night.

In the two statewide races, Justice Shirley Abrahamson prevailed over Judge Randy Koschnick for a seat on the State Supreme Court, and Tony Evers prevailed over Rose Fernandez and will be the state’s next Superintendent of Public Instruction. Closer to home, Michael Mathias and Janet [...]

Vote April 7!

Tomorrow’s election day here in Wisconsin, and while some folks would prefer that voters from one particular political persuasion or another don’t vote, I hope you all – regardless of whether you’re liberal or more conservative – get out and vote tomorrow. I know I’ll be voting, and not just because my name’s on [...]

No experience necessary?

To say Cory Liebmann of Eye On Wisconsin has done a yeoman’s job of covering Rose Fernandez’s campaign for DPI Superintendent would be an understatement. Day after day, Cory has highlighted how unprepared and unqualified Rose Fernandez is to serve as DPI Superintendent, and today is no exception. As Cory notes in his [...]

So this is what constitutes a “clean campaign?”

Down at the bottom of Judge Randy Koschnick’s Supreme Court campaign website, there’s a clean campaign ticker counting down the days since Judge Koschnick invited Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson to sign a clean campaign pledge. According to Judge Koschnick’s website, Judge Koschnick “said he believes the two can disagree while maintaining a high level [...]

The Journal Sentinel asked questions, I answered

There’s no question there’s a lot at stake in the upcoming spring elections, both on a statewide level and more importantly on the local level. Here in South Milwaukee, voters will have to choose two individuals to serve for the next three years as members of the school board. To help voters make [...]

Koschnick running illegal ad?

Take a look at the ad being run by Randy Koschnick’s campaign (it’s on the right hand side of the image) and tell me if you see anything wrong with it:

Did you see anything wrong with the ad? If you said that his ad doesn’t have a disclaimer (along the lines of, “Authorized and [...]

Did Pridemore coordinate his questionable press release?

I blogged earlier today about State DPI Superintendent candidate Tony Evers’ use of state resources to engage in campaign-related activities. However, as some bloggers and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin have noted, Republican State Representative Don Pridemore may have violated state election laws for an email he sent off using his state email account, [...]

Healthier lunches are possible…

Throughout my campaign for school board, I’ve talked a lot about promoting healthy, well-rounded children. In fact, when given a chance to speak to fourth graders at Lakeview Elementary School, one of the questions the kids asked me was if I felt the school lunches could be healthier. I absolutely think school lunches [...]

Pulling a play out of Gableman’s playbook

Back in February, I announced I was supporting Assistant District Attorney Dan Gabler’s campaign for the 15th Circuit Court Branch. At that time, I cited Gabler’s good reputation as an Assistant District Attorney, as well as the bipartisan support he’d received, but given the negative tone Gabler’s campaign has taken, I’m beginning to rethink [...]
