It’s no wonder Big Fitz decided at the last minute to dissolve the Senate Select Committee on Mining and Jobs and cancel the Platteville hearing scheduled for last Friday. Republicans are pushing hard for the open-pit mining bill to pass through the Wisconsin State Senate, claiming it will create jobs. Many citizens have pushed back because they know it will take years to see those jobs, there won’t be that many of them, and more importantly, they recognize the damage this open-pit mine will do [...] Yesterday’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel featured a front page article on a South Korean who is currently a professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
