I admire that Chad Lee, who by all accounts, seems to be a very nice guy, has taken to the campaign trail and is running for Congress. It is not easy to run for any office, much less a national office against a well ingrained incumbent in a gerry-mandered district. Unlike Rebecca Kleefisch, he is [...]
Given all the hoopla surrounding their visitor, resident and illegal alien unfriendly laws as evidenced by SB 1070, Jan Brewer, the septuagenerian, immigrant-bashing sweetheart and 22nd Governor of AZ was shocked to learn that the Mexican beauty Jimena Navarrete, from Guadalajara was crowned Queen of the Universe. Jan responded to this nomination of the universe’s queen with her usual chilly charm – Goodness gracious, Mexican’s crossing our border are drug dealers, be-headers and baby makers, so let’s hope that Ms. Universe is able to keep from evidencing any of these characteristics as she visits and resides in America over the next year. While she’s welcome to visit AZ, we expect her to have not only her Universe credentials for display at all border crossings and on demand by our troopers, but also to demonstrate evidence of non-pregnancy considering our desire to limit alien births in AZ. Congratulations Ms. Universe! [...]
Watch this clip from Anderson Cooper interviewing Texas GOP Representatives Debbie Riddle & Louie Gommert blabbing about “terror babies” being “dropped & trained” for future terror roles. I think there must be something in the water in Texas that generates this kind of drivel. [...]
Forbes Magazine has created a fascinating interactive map that allows you to select any county in the United States and track in- and outbound migration patterns based on a compilation of 2008 IRS data sets. [...]
Are you curious as to how your city or county is changing? Take a look at the excellent resources available through the U.S. Census Bureau search tool that allows you to see 2009 estimates of various demographic criteria and compare them to the national average. Here’s the WI state profile & a link to where you can review data at the county and city level. While WI hasn’t reached a “minority majority” other states have according to USA Today: “Releasing population estimates for July 1, 2009, the Census said 317 counties, four states and the District of Columbia are now “minority majority,” USA Today reported. The states are California, Hawaii, New Mexico and Texas.” According to the WSJ (subscription required): “The Census reported Thursday that nonwhite minorities accounted for 48.6% of the children born in the U.S. between July 2008 and July 2009, gaining ground from 46.8% two years earlier. The trajectory suggests that minority births will soon eclipse births of whites of European ancestry.” [...]
I found some interesting odds & ends related to people moving out and moving up that I wanted to share with you. The first was a report from AZ on the implications of SB 1070 – the “paper’s please” anti-immigrant law. It seems that the economists were right that the law would have significant negative impacts on Arizona businesses. They made this statement following an analysis of the economic value of immigrant workers to the state, without even taking into account the impact of boycott’s to the state. In this report from CNN you can hear business people and politician’s alike saying: The immigration law backfired. “Whoops we have no workers” Randi Kaye In other moving news, I heard through the grapevine, the unconfirmed report that Representative Paul Ryan (R-01) has purchased the Parker Mansion in Janesville’s prestigious Court House Hill Historic District. He will be living next to the Cullen’s, a builder and prominent Republican fundraiser. [...]
