I can’t believe I’m defending Chris Wallace, the FoxNews “legitimate” newsperson, but here goes.

Chris Wallace has apologized to Michele Bachmann for implying the truth. If anything, Mr. Wallace should be criticized for his timidity and for his backing down at pressure from those people so addled as to consider Michele Bachmann anything more than an adequate, if very flaky, citizen. He should have used the declarative rather than the interrogatory mode.

It happened Sunday while Wallace was interviewing Bachmann. Perhaps remembering the endless laundry list of stupid things Bachmann has said, perhaps noting her graduation from a whackjob fourth-rate law school, perhaps remembering the photo of Bachmann cowering behind bushes to spy on a gay rights rally, or the one of Bachmann laying a big fat one on George Bush after the SOTU speech, or so many other things, Wallace got the unmistaken notion that Michele Bachmann is a flake, wondered about how a flake felt about running for the highest office in the land, and thought he’d ask her. Michele, “are you a flake?” Since then the political correctness brigade at FoxNews, around the whole innnertubes and even in our comment section here at www.bloggingblue.com has been up in arms over whether Chris Wallace commited a sexism crime and should go on the sexism crime registry.

The real issue should be why the media can’t seem to be declarative on this issue, why the media can’t seem to spell out the facts as they are on the ground. Michele Bachmann is a flake, and she continues to be such a flake, mostly unannounced by mainstream media, that it remains for blogs like this to point out the truth, which we stumble and do once, twice, three times in our eagerness to fill the factual void of mainstream news. That truth is that Michele Bachmann is batshit crazy and a danger to ordinary citizens, and that she’s a darling of the Tea Partiers makes them batshit crazy as well. At least we’re getting it right, and not apologizing, even if we repeat ourselves.

Chris Wallace surely made at least two mistakes. He asked Bachmann whether she’s a flake instead of simply declaring what is evident. Perhaps this is what reporting has come to nowadays, that one can stub one’s toe on reality and still have to ask if it’s real. Samuel Johnson weeps in his grave. Wallace’s second mistake was to apologize, for nobody should have to apologize for presenting reality to an audience.

Should Wallace have used the word “flake?” Should I have used “Teabag Queen?” Both words are accurate, but some are sensitive to political correctness, so why not “whackjob,” or “seriously deranged” or “suffering from delusions of adequacy?” Are those politically incorrect? You make the call, or decide for yourselves.

It’s here. Michelle Bachman, on FoxNews, compares herself to John Wayne, who was also from Waterloo, Iowa. Sure, Bachmann didn’t know history enough to know Lexington and Concord happened in Massachusetts, but she’s sure to know the history of her own hometown, right?

Sadly, no. John Wayne, born as Marion Robert Morrison, was born in Winterset, Iowa. John Wayne Gacy, however, was born in Waterloo, Iowa.

Recent polling shows Bachmann is in a statistical dead heat with Mitt Romney in Iowa. Conclusions? Well, I posed with a picture of a clown yesterday. My son thought it was funny. But I can’t find a way to make this funny at all, and certainly the thought of a candidate for President throwing this kind of stupid out there is mind-numbing.

Please provide the punchline for me. Please.

Last night the first woman executed in the United States in five years was put to death in Virginia.

More than 7,300 appeals to stop the execution — the first of a woman in Virginia since 1912 — had been made to the governor in a state second only to Texas in the number of people it executes.

The execution of Ms. Lewis also drew the attention of people around the world.

Her fate also drew appeals from the European Union, an indignant rebuke from Iran and the disgust of thousands of people.

In a letter this month to McDonnell, the European Union asked the governor to commute her sentence to life, citing Lewis’ mental capacity. Her lawyers have said testing shows Lewis is borderline mentally retarded.

The European Union’s ambassador to the U.S. wrote that the EU “considers that the execution of people with mental disorders of all types is contrary to minimum standards of human rights.”

French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said in an online briefing Thursday it “deplored” the rejection of Lewis’ plea for clemency and the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear her appeal.

Earlier this week, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused Western media of having a double standard in reporting on the Lewis execution.

He compared coverage of the Lewis case to the “heavy propaganda” campaign against the case of an Iranian woman who had been sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery.

However it did not appear to get the attention of Virginia’s \"Pro-Life\" Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.

Milwaukee Police confirmed today a DNA link between a suspected serial killer and a seventh victim. Florence McCormick, a slain prostitute, was found dead on April 24, 1995 inside a vacant home on the city’s north side in the 600 block of West Locust Avenue.

As I wrote yesterday, I felt there would be more victims identified thanks to DNA, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the number of victims tied to this serial killer ends up close to twelve. Twenty one years is a long time, and I still question if the killer really killed multiple victims in 1986 and 1995 and and went 9 and 10 years between kills, leading me to believe there are more victims yet to be identified. What’s more, take a look at this map:

View Untitled in a larger map

Five of the seven identified victims were found within a 12 square block area on Milwaukee’s north side, and six of the seven were found in abandoned houses. I’m no expert, but it seems to me the killer knows the area and feels somewhat comfortable operating within that area.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting Milwaukeeans may have a serial killer in their midst:

Milwaukee police are looking for a serial killer suspected in the homicides of at least six Milwaukee women murdered over 21 years, the most recent in 2007, the police chief and district attorney said Monday.

The same DNA was found on two women in 1986, two in 1995, one in 1997 and one in April 2007, police said. Advanced DNA testing has allowed the cases to be linked.

Five of the victims were prostitutes and a sixth was involved in drug use and drug sales, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said at a news conference.

The person whose DNA was found on all six victims is not in any known law enforcement database, Flynn said.

What strikes me about this case are the long periods of time that passed between the victims – nine years between the first two victims and the third and fourth victims, followed by two years until victim number five, and then ten more years until victim six. That’s a long time for a serial killer to go between kills, leaving me to wonder if there are yet more victims that have not been identified – or located – by law enforcement.
