It’s as if it were written just for the Occupy Movement.

From The Mask of Anarchy by Percy Bysshe Shelley, comes this, the first recorded call to nonviolent resistance.

“Stand ye calm and resolute,
Like a forest close and mute,
With folded arms and looks which are
Weapons of unvanquished war.

And if then the tyrants dare,
Let them ride among you there,
Slash, and stab, and maim and hew,
What they like, that let them do.

With folded arms and steady eyes,
And little fear, and less surprise
Look upon them as they slay
Till their rage has died away

Then they will return with shame
To the place from which they came,
And the blood thus shed will speak
In hot blushes on their cheek.

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you-
Ye are many — they are few”

From this

Chris Christie still will have less experience at governing than Obama had when he ran for President, a whine conservatives often threw at President Obama, but New Jersey Governor just might go ahead and enter the GOP primaries if he can shed his own notion that he isn’t arrogant enough to run for President. From Politics Daily in February:

“I am not arrogant enough to believe that after one year as governor . . . that I am ready to be president of the United States,” he told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

No it looks as if Chris Christie is being given the gift of arrogance from two of the most arrogant players on the political scene in the past 50 years, Henry Kissenger and George W. Bush. From the New York Post:

After months of hedging, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is giving serious thought to jumping into the ring for a GOP presidential run — and could make his decision next week, The Post has learned.

The announcement may come as soon as Monday, said sources familiar with Christie’s thinking.

The renewed consideration about a White House run came after prodding this week from some Republicans he idolizes, including former First Lady Nancy Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former President George W. Bush, sources said.

Let’s forget for a moment that Henry Kissinger and George W. Bush have both been mentioned as war criminals at various times in their careers and focus on the notion that these supposedly old-guard Republicans are trying to wrest the GOP nomination for one of their own. How in the world could they possibly think that Chris Christie was one of their own given his huge support from Tea Partiers? Sure, Christie himself may seem less of a whackjob than Perry or Bachman or Cain, but his followers are full of whackjobbery. I suppose the thinking here is that independent voters won’t be able to see the whackjobbery all around Mr. Christie. I’m betting that ain’t the case, and that Mr. Christie’s followers will taint him among most Americans, that he will have to carry the negatives of the Tea Party movement on his very broad back all the way to the November 2012 election, if he manages to win the GOP primaries. Hey, Chris Christie has enough baggage of his own to carry without Tea Party baggage, too.

One thing we know for sure. . . a Chris Christie candidacy will mean a heightening of the war on the middle class the Republicans have set out on, and that’s a danger to all Americans.

I do not have any interest on writing much about Dick but he did write a book and is now going to profit on his crimes. I personally think that Dick is one of the most vile human beings in our country and maybe my biggest disappointment in President Obama’s record is the fact that he has protected Dick. Because i have no interest at this time in rehashing the horrendous Bush Administration record, i will just share a column from one of my favorite writers William Rivers Pitt: ( I recommend the whole column but here is a highlight)

There is so much to remember about Dick Cheney’s time in office. There was the Office of Special Plans, which he created to formulate the most effective lies possible about Iraq, WMD, and connections to September 11. There was the torture in Abu Ghraib and elsewhere, which he referred to as “the dark side” and which he championed with great vigor. There was his dismissal of lawfully-issued congressional subpoenas, and his dedication to the idea of a “Unitary Executive” which is beholden to nothing and no one. There was his broad plan to spy on millions of Americans without a warrant, which he wanted to continue even after the whole thing was declared to be illegal. There was (and remains) the program of indefinite detention without due process of law, which was his baby, and there was the coddling of known criminal and double-agent Ahmed Chalabi, who was his pal.

There was all this, and so much more besides, but one incident stands out in my mind above all else. It was only an accent in the symphony of wrongdoing Cheney directed from his office, and was barely noticed at the time, but I will never forget it.

It was a simple thing, really: the National Archives, by dint of two different federal laws, annually collects the official papers of the Executive Branch for the edification of future historians, researchers and government officials. It is a by-rote requirement, one small cog in the wheelworks of government, but not this time.

Dick Cheney said no. No, you cannot have any papers from the office of the Vice President, and for one reason: the office of the Vice President, because I say so, is not part of the Executive Branch.

By the way, Lawrence Wilkerson wants Dick tried for his crimes, Colin Powell and Condi Rice can not stand him either.

To say former U.S. Senator and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is a grade-A asshole would be a gross understatement (emphasis mine):

“And so this idea that we didn’t ask that question while Khalid Sheik Mohammed was being waterboarded, he [McCain] doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works,” said Santorum.

“I mean, you break somebody, and after they’re broken, they become cooperative. And that’s when we got this information.”

Anybody who reads this blog regularly knows I’m no fan of Sen. John McCain, but there’s no denying that if anyone understands how “enhanced interrogation” works, it’s John McCain. McCain endured horrific torture at the hands of North Vietnamese forces for roughly 5 years after his aircraft was shot down, and for Rick Santorum to openly say that John McCain doesn’t understand how torture works is absolutely galling.

Bill Sammon, Fox News’ Washington managing editor:

“Last year, candidate Barack Obama stood on a sidewalk in Toledo, Ohio, and first let it slip to Joe the Plumber that he wanted to ‘spread the wealth around.’ At that time, I have to admit that I went on TV on Fox News and publicly engaged in what I guess was some rather mischievous speculation about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism, a premise that privately I found rather far-fetched.”

Instead of delving into the blatant Fox news/right win hypocrisy, I will let Jon Stewart do it and save myself a headache!

Too bad Bill Sammon does not work for NPR, then Fox “news” could have a 72 hour news story!

Introducing Tea Party Review — the first national magazine for, by, and about the Tea Party Movement — and it appears to be everything we could have hoped it to be!

The magazine’s website contains a list of what we can find inside its inaugural issue. It starts out pretty bland, with pieces like “Complete coverage of the 2012 presidential campaign.”

Then it turns awesome — with articles like ¨The Left’s War on Science and Reason” and “How the Top Colleges Turn Kids into Stupid Leftists” (seriously).

Here is a sample of the list — containing the articles we are most, most excited to read:

    * ¨Obama’s War on the First Amendment… and the Rest of the Constitution
* ¨Dirty Tricks and Vote Fraud in the 2010 Election
* ¨Glenn Beck vs. the Communist Party: A Tale of Two Rallies
* ¨The Left’s War on Science and Reason
* ¨How the Top Colleges Turn Kids into Stupid Leftists

Just when you thought the “tea party” could not get any more ridiculous. The collective IQ of the nation is dropping by the minute!

But George Bush FINALLY thought out a decision and made the right one. As Huffington Post reports,

Former U.S. President George W. Bush has cancelled a visit to Switzerland, where he was to address a Jewish charity gala, due to the risk of legal action against him for alleged torture, rights groups said on Saturday.

So George Bush is welcome in Beloit, WI, where he helped create a 17% unemployment rate with open arms(well semi-open arms as the taxpayers helped pay for a private event). The admitted war criminal, however is NOT welcome in countries that take the rule of law seriously and have ratified the torture convention.

Maybe he could send Dick Cheney in his place!

Put this on top of the “you just cant make these things up” file. This is a story that perfectly describes the lunacy of the past election and the incompetence of the republican party. The Republicans started their takeover of the house by reading the US Constitution on the floor. The party called it a ” nod” to the “tea party” and after the day was done we see that it truly was. While I applaud the republican party for finally reading the Constitution, it costs the taxpayers over $1 Million taxpayer dollars for the theatrics, and they even took their own editing liberties with the 200+ year old document. While that highlighted their pure hypocrisy the truly funny part was what happened next. As reported on Huffington Post:

Two House Republicans have cast votes as members of the 112th Congress, but were not sworn in on Wednesday, a violation of the Constitution on the same day that the GOP had the document read from the podium.

The Republicans, incumbent Pete Sessions of Texas and freshman Mike Fitzpatrick, missed the swearing in because they were at a fundraiser in the Capitol Visitors Center. The pair watched the swearing-in on television from the Capitol Visitors Center with their hands raised.

As if all of this was not enough, A true \"tea party\" spokeswoman named Theresa, gave us the icing on the cake.

As one House member read the text from Article Two, section one – “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President” – a woman in the Gallery who called herself Theresa began shrieking, “Except Obama, except Obama, help us, Jesus!” Yes, friends and neighbors, she was a “Birther,” one of those who refuse to believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, that Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States, and is therefore ineligible to be President. In other words, Theresa is a pillar of the base that supports the “Tea Party” faction of our newly-minted House majority.

It is going to be a LONG two years!
