Matching grants of up [...] Kevin Fech, one of the three candidates running for mayor in Cudahy, will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 7-11 p.m. at Sparky’s, which is located at 5244 South Packard Avenue. Beer, food, and soda will be provided, and a $10 per person donation is suggested at the door. It’s election season here in Cudahy, and though we still have just over two months until the spring election, we’ve seen no shortage of wild accusations of illegal campaign activities and back-door deals being set up by candidates. Being a new resident to Cudahy, I’ve taken a keen interest in our local political goings-on, and [...] Just a few bits of news that caught my eye this morning… Talking Points Memo has a writeup on the race in Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district between incumbent Democrat Rep. Dave Obey and Republican challengers Sean Duffy and Dan Mielke, who has labeled himself a “tea-party type candidate.” The NRCC is promoting Duffy as one [...] Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota is retiring from the Senate, leaving his seat up for grabs in 2010. Given the fact that North Dakota is a red state, I expect Dorgan’s seat will be a pickup for the Republican Party, but ultimately it still won’t impact the balance of power in the U.S. [...] As if having 3 bars on every block wasn’t enough, on Tuesday Cudahy Aldermen will consider changing a city ordinance to allow more stores in Cudahy to sell alcohol. At this time, the number of Class A licenses in Cudahy is limited to one for every 4,000 residents, and the proposed change would lower that [...] Cudahy Mayoral candidate Kevin Fech will host a meet and greet session on Wednesday, December 9th at the Cudahy Library from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. If you live in Cudahy (or you’re just interested in Cudahy politics) come out and meet Kevin!
