Mahlon Mitchell supports Republican efforts to abolish residency requirements

This really isn’t a surprise… Mahlon Mitchell, the president of the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Wisconsin, says he backs Gov. Scott Walker in his effort to end residency rules statewide.

The move comes less than a year after Mitchell ran unsuccessfully against Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in an attempted recall of Walker and Kleefisch.

Mahlon Mitchell endorses Mark Pocan

Earlier today, former Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Mahlon Mitchell endorsed the campaign of fellow Democrat Mark Pocan, who’s running to replace Tammy Baldwin in the second Congressional district. Here’s what Mitchell had to say about his endorsement of Pocan. “Mark Pocan has served tirelessly in support of progressive values – tackling some of the most [...]

Unscripted and unplugged at the Wisconsin Democratic Convention 2012 (video)

Truth be told, I didn’t want to to attend the Democratic Party of Wisconsin State Convention this year. It was too soon after the recall, and I was just too damn tired. The mere idea of pep talks and strategic planning sessions made me want to crawl into bed with a bunch of junk food [...]

Recall Memo: June 5: On Healing Our State from Louis Fortis

The publisher of The Shepherd Express has some thoughts on Healing Our State…and he comes to the conclusion that it requires the election of Mayor Tom Barrett as governor in the recall this Tuesday June 5th!

Recall Memo: Walker Water Everywhere but NOT a Drop to Drink!

Sometimes I am not so sure there isn’t a weekend editor or two at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel who enjoys a bit of irony and edits the news to grand effect!

Recall Memo: June 5: Another Walker Budget Deficit Fixed via Cuts to UW System

Not too long ago…at the 8 month or so point in his two year ‘balanced budget’…Governor Walker filled a projected budget deficit of $143 million by making additional cuts to state spending of $123 million dollars. The largest portion of these reductions were taken from the UW system, $46 million to be exact!

From a [...]

Recall Memo: June 5: Walker Uses Settlement Money to Fill Shortfall in Balanced Budget

One of the self declared crowning achievements of Scott Walker’s time as governor, is how he ‘balanced’ his first biennial budget (which is I believe, a state constitutional requirement, but never mind that). He touts this accomplishment at every rally, speech and prominently at both debates. BUT…just 8 months or so into the FIRST year [...]

Recall Memo: June 5: Walker Tenure as County Exec Troubles Sheriff Clarke

On May 20, 2012 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran an article discussing Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s desire to outsource maintenance work at the Milwaukee County Jail. The Sheriff contends that it takes too long for county personnel to respond to requests for any type of maintenance including things as simple as changing light bulbs.

VIDEO: Today’s GOTV rally at Pere Marquette Park in Milwaukee

As promised, here’s some video from some of the folks who spoke at today’s GOTV rally at Pere Marquette Park in Milwaukee. The crowd was big (filled up the park) and lively, and while my video is a little shaky, the audio is great.

First up, here’s Democratic State Sen. Jon Erpenbach, one of the [...]
