Wisconsin cannot afford TWO Tea Party politicians in the Senate

While many of us have been laser-focused on the upcoming recall election, Senator Ron Johnson has been busy making bizarre statements. But Johnson is not the only Republican making absurd declarations. Tommy Thompson, Eric Hovde, and Mark Neumann have all been hard at work trying to out-Tea-Party one another in the race for U.S. Senate. [...]

Republican Senate hopefuls fail to gain GOP endorsement

I love this… Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald of Horicon took the most votes at the Republican Party’s state convention here, but fell short of the 60% needed to secure the endorsement. It was a surprisingly strong showing for Fitzgerald, who has lagged in fundraising and polling.

Thompson, elected governor four times, was knocked off [...]

Surprise, surprise! Out-of-stater Eric Hovde raises most of his money from…..out of state!

Last week I wrote a little about the fundraising numbers for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin and one of her Republican counterparts, extreme conservative businessman Mark Neumann.

One candidate I neglected to mention is Washington, D.C. rich guy Eric Hovde (pictured, left), who has carpetbagged back to [...]

Baldwin raises over $2 million from over 24,000 contributors last quarter

On Tuesday the campaign of far-right extremist Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Neumann announced it had raised $650,000 from over 9,000 contributions in the first quarter of 2012. Chip Englander, Neumann’s campaign manager, also said Neumann’s 17,000 supporters are more than anyone else in the Senate race.

However, a tweet from Democratic U.S. Senate [...]

Compare/Contrast: Wisconsin Senate Race

With Unites States Senator Herb Kohl deciding not to run for re-election, that left an opening for new players in both parties to step up and try and capture this seat.

In the democratic party, Tammy Baldwin stepped up early, announcing her intentions to run. People across the state know the integrity of Tammy [...]

Mark Neumann mails hit piece on Tammy Baldwin

If this mailer from extreme right Republican U.S. Senate candidate (and failed Senate & gubernatorial candidate) Mark Neumann is any indicator, the race to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Herb Kohl is going to be particularly negative and downright nasty.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

With the announcement today by Ted Kanavas that he will not be running for the US senate seat being vacated by Herb Kohl, it brings to mind a question and an observation.

Question: Who?

Observation: With such a weak Republican field (fitzgerald the lesser, professional jobber Mark Neumann and maybe long time retired Bret [...]

Well it’s a good thing Mark Neumann wasn’t elected God then…

This nugget of goodness comes courtesy of the Root River Siren: In the 1990′s, Neumann told the New York Times:

“If I were elected God for a day, homosexuality wouldn’t be permitted.”

Got that? Mark Neumann wished (and maybe still does wish) he could be God for a day so he could be a bigot.

Some Tuesday Morning Questions:

Some things I have been thinking about lately, and do not have the answer too.

1. If Merit Pay is such a great idea, why dont we use it for politicians?

2. When a college marching band makes fun of your intelligence, how can anyone take you seriously? Here is the band from [...]

Mark Neumann to Ride the Tea Party Horse

Mark Neumann has announced his candidacy to replace Herb Kohl as Senator from Wisconsin.  Sure, we know Neumann is conservative, and that he posed as even more conservative than Scott Walker in the 2010 Republican Primary for Governor.  But this time it appears Neumann, despite the statewide reaction to Walker’s extremist policies, is going to [...]
