From the files of “Strange but True” comes this little tidbit:
According to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, if she and husband Todd had had a sixth child, they already had a name in mind. “I always wanted a son named Zamboni,” Gov. Palin said in an interview with People magazine.
Zamboni….that sure rolls off the tongue.
A special shout out to my friend Kevin for providing the link to the source story.
I understand the name Bristol for her oldest. But, I find it an odd coincidence that her other girls have unusual names that were made famous by Buffy the Vampire Slayer – who’s best friend was Willow and is a very popular name among new age and Wicca circles pre that TV show (which is part of why they used it). Piper was a character on Charmed, a series about modern witches which was extremely popular at the time Piper Palin was born.
Trig is also interesting since she says it’s Norse for “true”. But, there is no current Norse language. It’s really called Old Norse because it’s been replaced with modern Scandinavian languages. It’s interesting because the Norse people were far from Christian……..think Norse myths. She might as well have named him Thor.
All I’m saying is it’s pretty interesting that this self proclaimed devoutly Christian woman would chose names that would be more understandable in a alternative religion family. Like, say a family that considered themselves Wiccan or modern Pagan.
That’s because Engine Nighthawk Palin was already taken.
