To my 3.5 loyal readers

Between an active family life, a full-time job, a new puppy and a school board campaign that’s more work than one would expect, I’m dragging. If any of my 3.5 loyal readers would be interested in guest-blogging, email me and I’ll hook you up, otherwise don’t expect anything terribly exciting from Blogging Blue in the next few weeks.

  1. I’m so impressed you’re the cookie dad, I just might consider it. πŸ™‚ Recipes with Thin Mints anyone?

  2. Thin mints are my kryptonite. I can (and probably will) eat a whole sleeve of thin mints in one sitting.

As for recipes, I’d be intrigued to see some of the best Girl Scout cookie-related recipes.

  3. I can’t even keep up with what I got now. Just copy and paste my stuff. You’ll be a big hit. People just love my work! πŸ™‚

  4. Zach…I have to ask you as someone who lives in SM…how do you feel about the controversy going on with the pet goat? Do you think the family should have to get rid of it?

  5. Anon, while I certainly understand the health department’s desire to have their rules enforced, I think they should have made an exception for the Krugs, especially given the fact that no one complained about the goat – as far as I know.

  6. I know. I feel so bad for them. That little goat isn’t a health risk to anyone. I hope they are able to find an attorney who will help them out with this case. They shouldn’t have to give up their pet goat. Not to mention…it’s not like the City of South Milwaukee is big on enforcing other municipal codes so it makes me wonder why they are making such a big deal out of this one. Hmmm…but now that I’m thinking about it…the City’s great concern is probably due to the press coverage they are getting.

  7. Anon, if the city were so concerned about the press coverage, they would have made an exception to allow the goat, because as it stands now, the city health dept. looks pretty heartless.

  8. Yeah…they do look heartless. I’m sure they don’t think so though. People on power trips don’t see the world the way normal or regular people do. If they cared so much about the ordinances and illegal animals they would enforce the pit bull ordinance…not that I’m in favor of that ordinance. There are a number of ordinances I could talk about which the city doesn’t enforce even when a complaint is filed…but the harmless goat is the one the city picks to go after. I think the SM residents who support the goat should have a “Save The Goat” rally at the South Milwaukee City Hall. πŸ™‚

  9. I read today the Krugs hired an attorney to fight the City of South Milwaukee. I applaud them for their efforts and wish them luck. SAVE THE GOAT!!

  10. Anon, that’s good news. It’s just a shame the City isn’t willing to be a little more flexible, because it seems like a waste of taxpayer dollars for the city to have to defend itself from legal action simply because the board of health wouldn’t be a little more flexible.

  11. So…do you think this saga could get anymore interesting? LOL… Gail Krug filed papers to be a write-in candidate for alderperson in District 1. Boy am I’m loving this. So…could you run for alderperson and school board? Two new people on the common council would be a great thing. Actually…eight new people and a new mayor would be ideal for me but I’ll would settle for two new alderpersons. Go Gail! SAVE THE GOAT!! πŸ™‚

  12. Anon, good for her. It’s always good to see people get involved.

As to your question, I’m not really sure what the answer is, but I’d be willing to bet a really motivated individual could run for both. I won’t disagree with you that South Milwaukee does need some change, and that’s why I’m so glad Erik Brooks is running for alderman in the Fourth District.

  13. The endorsements below taken off of Erik’s website would give me some pause if I lived in his district. I like people who are independent and not beholden to unions.

“Proudly endorsed by the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and AFSCME Milwaukee District Council 48.”

  14. Just because an individual is endorsed by unions doesn’t mean they’re automatically beholden to those unions. In fact, Janet Evans (school board candidate in Franklin) was endorsed by AFSCME Council 48, and I know for a fact while she agrees with the unions on some things, she also disagrees with unions on a heck of a lot. That doesn’t strike me as someone who’s beholden to unions, and knowing Erik, I don’t think he’d be beholden to anyone except his constituents if he’s elected.

  15. Yeah…you’re right. I cut my comment short because I had to run. I also wanted to say…Erik’s website is informative and he does seem to have a lot of good ideas. Like I said before…the more new people elected who aren’t part of what I call the “clansville” the better.

It’s funny…I never heard of Erik before you mentioned him in your comment. I hope he’s getting his name out there and going door to door so the voters know who he is.
