Walk Now for Autism Speaks

At the risk of spamming my own blog, I’m going to post about “Walk Now for Autism Speaks.” As some of you may know, my son Nicholas is autistic, and on July 11, 2009, Patti, Nicholas, Alexis and I will be walking at the State Fair Park to raise money for autism research and awareness. I’m hoping some of you out there in the ether will consider joining our team or making a donation, because I’d love to have a big group of people walking with a common purpose…after all, the more, the merrier!

If you can’t or don’t want to walk with our team, consider making a donation. I know times are tough right now, but every little bit helps, even if it’s just a dollar.

Thanks!

  1. so sorry I missed this event, as i just found your’e blog. We also have an autistic son. (Jon)He’s 3 and recently diagnosed. Keep up your’e efforts in the end it helps us all!!!!

  2. yes, however I’m on the wavier wait list. the new insurance law does not apply to me because my insurance company is a self insured plan. (pro health care) ironic work for a hosptial that won’t cover autsim. even though we do have a benefit of no pre existing conditon clause. I know that my son has had this from birth. Long story short i had a difficult preganancy. the only help we havegotten was birth to 3 and 4 weeks of early education, which was great!!! but I now see him slowly regressing since no help over summer.

    1. cadtechwi, we watched our son regress a little bit before he started his behavior therapy through the waiver program, and his progress since starting the program has been remarkable. I’m sure good things are on the horizon for your son.
