  1. I second that notion! Bravo, Mr. President.

I heard John Bolton blabbing about how this undermined America’s status in favor of North Korea, and I wished the person on NPR would ask him, “What do you think would have happened if former President Bush went instead of President Clinton?” We would not be reading about their release from jail, I can assure you that.

  2. As details come out about this, it doesn’t sound like Clinton brokered the deal, but just picked them up. I heard that Kim Jong Il said he would only release them if Bill Clinton showed up first. I just want to know more details. I’m all about giving credit where it is due, but it sounds like it was more the celebrity status. If Kim had requested Tom Cruise would be be thanking Tom for bringing them home?

  3. Does the phrase “rain on my parade” mean anything any more?

The fact that Al Gore has been working this issue for five months and that the State Department has been pulling out all stops AND that Kim Jong IL submitted a list of names as to who could come see him does not diminish this effort.

President Clinton spent three hours talking to KJI and you can bet it wasn’t about what the ladies had for lunch. The full benefits of Pres. Clintons benefit may not be known for some time.

So let’s celibrate the return and thank the President for his role. Tomorrow we can all analyze the value of Pres. Clinton vs Sec’y of State Clinton and others in this instance.
