Barrett campaign reveals new website

After weeks of waiting, the Barrett for Governor campaign has unveiled its new website, and I have to say it’s quite good. While I’m certainly no expert on website design, the site is easy to navigate and it does a good job of integrating social networking (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube). Perhaps the most interesting feature of the site is the “Ask Tom” section, which allows visitors to the site to ask Mayor Barrett a question or submit an idea for a stronger Wisconsin. The “Ask Tom” section notes that in the “coming weeks,” Mayor Barrett will answer the questions via a live video chat.

While I certainly think there’s a lot to like about the Barrett For Wisconsin website, I do have one complaint: the site was designed by Liberty Concepts, a firm based out of Boston, Massachusetts. I was critical of Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Walker for his decision to outsource the design of his gubernatorial website to a firm based out of Ohio, and while I certainly can’t presume to know the reasons why the Barrett campaign chose to use Liberty Concepts, I can’t help but wonder if there wasn’t at least one Wisconsin firm that could have done the job of designing the site equally as well as Liberty Concepts.
