Sanders gains endorsements from county chairs, party officers

Democrat Lieutenant Governor candidate Henry Sanders announced on Thursday he had received the endorsements of a number of Democratic Party leaders from across the state. Among the Democratic county chairs and officers joining together to form Party Leaders for Sanders are:

  • Bruce Barr, Kenosha County
  • Wayne Bigelow, Dane County
  • Bob Fizzell, Rock County
  • Jef Hall, Winnebago County
  • Jack Krueger, Brown County
  • Rich Mantz, Fond du Lac County
  • Dawn Martin, Milwaukee County
  • Michael Schlotfeldt, Washington County
  • John Smart, Price County
  • Angela Sutkiewicz, Sheboygan County
  • Joanie Tool, Pierce County
  • Analiese Eicher, College Democrats of Wisconsin Chair

After receiving the endorsements, Sanders issued a statement, saying “As I travel the state and meet with these local, grassroots leaders, I’m awed by their commitment to Wisconsin’s working families,” said Sanders. “We need to win this election to build a solid future for the state and for our party. We can’t do that without the work of these amazing leaders, and I’m proud to have earned their support.”

The endorsements announced by Sanders’ campaign last week are in addition to a number of endorsements he received from elected officials in Dane County, and I haven’t seen or heard much from Spencer Coggs or Tony Zielinski, the other two serious Democratic Lieutenant Governor candidates, leaving me to wonder if Sanders might sew up the Lt. Governor race in quick fashion.

  1. Sanders is from Madison, which may play better to some than having an all-Milwaukee ticket for guv. Then again, it’d be a Milwaukee-Madison ticket, which would rub some the wrong way. Having a ticket with two good candidates would rub some the wrong way as well. So I’m wondering why I’m bothering to say it would “rub some the wrong way,” as anything a politician does will do that. Ahh, I give up. 😎
