Man arrested for threatening Rep. Eric Cantor

Normal Leboon, a 38 year-old man from the Philadelphia area has been arrested by authorities and charged with threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, and his family. The threat was made by Leboon in a video he posted on YouTube, in which he said, “You receive my bullets in your office, remember they will be placed in your heads.” Leboon’s threats towards Rep. Cantor come on the heels of a report last week that a bullet was fired through a window at Cantor’s campaign office in Richmond, Virginia, but police later indicated that bullet had been shot into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, suggesting it was a stray bullet.

Leboon’s threats to Rep. Cantor aren’t the only threats he’s made; the Washington Independent is reporting Leboon recorded and posted on YouTube hundreds of videos making threats against movie studios, politicians, religious figures and media pundits. Among those threatened by Leboon are President Barack Obama (who Leboon is also reported to have made donations to in 2008), so there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to Leboon’s threats. It’s also worth noting Leboon refers to himself as the “messiah;” so it would appear his grasp on the reality you and I live in is tenuous at best.

The DNC has already announced it will give Leboon’s contributions to charity, but I’ll be curious to see how the criminal charges against Leboon unfold. As I’ve maintained time and time again, threats against elected officials – whether those officials are Democrats or Republicans – are completely inappropriate and uncalled for, and I hope Norman Leboon is dealt with harshly.

  1. Whoa…no troll comments when you post something about a Republican being threatened?

  2. I wonder how a crazy guy from Philly honed in on a congressman from Virginia. This is the kind of stuff that discourages people from wanting to run and serve in office. Take a minute to pray (if you do that sort of thing) for the safety, well-being, and strength to endure for all our elected officials and military personnel.

    1. forgot, from what I’ve read of this Leboon character, he was all over the map with his threats. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who he chose to threaten.
