  1. It was so nice to hear Tim Nerenz at the AFP soiree calling for a time when cabana boys knew their place. It felt just like 1954 again.

  2. Grumps speaks of this. In a world where the two major parties have a hard time unseating each other, I look forward to the platform and the plan that will magically “sack the whole mess of them”. Today I’m also enjoying this thread where I speculate on exactly how the Battle of West Bend will be planned and executed.

  3. I have health care reform on the brain today. I’m very disappointed to see so many self-identified progressives now trashing anyone on the left who has questions about whether the Senate bill is really worth passing.

      1. That is not a valid reason for passing it though. That is like being second to last and feeling morally superior that you were not last.

I have taken the position that I cannot support the healthcare bill as written. I support much of it but, on principle, I cannot support being forced to buy insurance.

It pains me to take that stand as I had hoped that the bill would be corrected, but it was not. I wanted more choices for more people but it did not happen.

I know that if it does not pass that it may take years before it is attempted again; yet I cannot accept the federal government mandating this for every American. It is not freedom when you choose among insurance plans. There is freedom when you are not required to choose…and that is where I stand.

      2. I really hope you are right about it being better than nothing. The individual mandate concerns me since there is no public option. I can’t figure out why Obama has been making all these concessions to Republicans when they aren’t going to vote for it anyway.
