Westlake flip-flops on fundraising

Back in January, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dave Westlake announced he was suspending all his campaign’s fundraising, and that instead of formal campaign fundraisers, his campaign would raise money through the sale of blaze orange t-shirts on Westlake’s campaign website. However, in a stunning reversal, Westlake has resumed formal fundraising for his Senate campaign, having set up a donations page on his website, while his supporters are promoting an upcoming “money bomb” via Twitter:

As Jim over at Pretty Important Politics notes, the suspension announcement, which was made via Youtube video, is now set to private, and there are no longer any references to it on davewestlake.org; however thanks to the wonders of the intertubes, remnants of the Youtube link remain on Twitter and Facebook:

As part of Westlake’s “Ask Dave” video series, I’ve asked Dave Westlake why he flip-flopped on suspending his campaign’s fundraising, and I’ll be sure to update this if and when Westlake issues a response, because I’d love to hear him rationalize his flip-flop on campaign fundraising.

    1. And I’m sure Feingold has support from some Republicans, as he had every time he’s run for the Senate. The fact is, Westlake will be lucky to get 40% in a two-way Republican primary, and he’ll be lucky to get even 15% in a three-way Republican primary.
