Feingold endorses Moews

It looks like Lieutenant Chris Moews of the Milwaukee Police Department, who’s running against incumbent Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke in the Democratic primary for Milwaukee County Sheriff, is pulling out the “big guns,” having gotten the endorsement of U.S. Senator Russ Feingold:

“I am grateful and humbled by the support of Senator Feingold, a Wisconsin leader who I have always admired,” Moews said in a statement. “With the support of leaders like Senator Feingold, I firmly believe we will win our election on September 14th.”

Feingold’s endorsement comes as Moews builds support among a number of Wisconsin leaders and organizations, including state lawmakers, local leaders, the Milwaukee County Democratic Party, and the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.

“I know Lieutenant Moews understands what it means to be a leader and he will bring much needed change to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department.” Senator Feingold said in a statement Wednesday. “I look forward to his election as Milwaukee County’s next Sheriff.”

I’m willing to bet Sen. Feingold’s endorsement of Chris Moews is exactly one more endorsement by a Democratic elected official than Sheriff David Clarke will get in this election.
