I was thinking the exact same thing!

A lot’s been made elsewhere on the blogosphere about the fact that the website of PACUR, the plastics company owned by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson was edited to change the company’s history to be more consistent with Ron Johnson’s version of his “life story,” but Annie K. of eau snap! astutely pointed out how a PACUR employee was outed by Dan Bice:

A company employee said Monday that he was guessing that the change was something ordered up by the Johnson campaign. The staffer said he was unaware of the website edits.

“They’re probably doing this to make sure all their T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted,” said Brad Sall, a Pacur employee.

I hope for Brad Sall’s sake he won’t soon be an ex-employee of PACUR for daring to open his mouth and speak ill of Ron Johnson’s U.S. Senate campaign.

  1. OK let’s play our little game, and

Locke: Nice accusation there, Zach. That Johnson would fire an employee for expressing his political beliefs. Care to provide any grounds or support for such an accusation?

Zach: Who me? I never actually said he would fire him, only that it would be a shame, you know, if something like that were to happen. You know, hypothetically speaking.

    1. There’s no game to play. I think I made it pretty clear that I hope Brad Sall doesn’t find himself as an ex-employee of PACUR for opening up his mouth, precisely for the reason mentioned below by Ash.

  2. Hmm. Part of my post got truncated. Oh well.

It’s amusing that this is such a mystery to people. The answer from the company seemed entirely reasonable:

Barry Johnson of Pacur and brother of Ron Johnson said members of the media have been hounding the company with questions about its origins.

“In reviewing our website, we found it did not clearly state the difference between Wisconsin Industrial Shipping Supplies and PACUR, so we made the decision to update the website in order to clarify the history of the two companies,” Barry Johnson said in a statement.

Companies that merge, change names or reorganize typically result in situations that make for awkward language, it’s just a fact of life.

And it was just a coincidence that this occurred at about the same time as the Madison TV story.

Sure, it was a coincidence. Had nothing to do with the possibility that maybe, just maybe said broadcast generated a ton of interrogatories to the company so they decided to clarify the situation to get people to quit pestering them with stupid questions.

  3. Locke !!! (John Locke???)
    Hey! what gives?
I said first, and most emphatically, and I mean it 100%

I have no idea where you might work that at an adult age you are still SO trusting and idealistic BUT! employment can be hell. People get targeted at work, their employee files are trumped up and padded to fit the legal requirements for firing without liability. Guys (women too) can be “ridden” by the foreman/boss for just personality clash reasons.
People get replaced by relatives, yada yada. Not everyone is nice here on Planet Earth.

Am I a Johnson fan? No. But you have taken that thought of Mine/ours to a direction it was never intended to go. I (we) didn’t say Johnson is such an ass we are SURE etc etc. He may be an ass in that Bad Boss kind of way. Or he may be a nice Dad, good husband, fair boss, but IMO a shitty candidate.

THE POINT (which I think you did actually know) was that THE REPORTER, should be decent to people who talk to his annoying ass. He should think “Hey, if I blast this guy’s name all over hell, it may come back at him in some way I do not anticipate.
If that Dan Bice Fellow wants to spin Ron J in a negative way, he can goddam do it without USING the people who have lived with Ron, and will continue to live with Ron when this is all over, in the way that he did.

Brad Sall should NOT have been dragged into this political B.S. He was minding his own business and just answered a pushy guy’s dumb question so he could get on with his day. Bice could have said “a source” or some such thing. It was not needed. Brad Sall’s privacy was violated.

in caps now: A REPORTER WAS INSENSITIVE AND EXPLOITATIVE.
Using a private guy’s name MAY stir the pot, cause trouble for him in some ways we can’t guess. They’re supposed to learn that In JSchool

    mmm’kay? Bice=asshole.

  4. as a side thought –
I will say that I am pretty sure that Ron Johnson had NO idea, like Beyond Infinity No Idea, how his life, business, family, friends, dog, and even microbes in the leftovers at the back of his fridge would be examined, parsed and basically raped in every possible way.
NOT because the Feingold team is so evil. but that’s how it would be for anyone on any “side”. I think HE was not prepared (no one with no prior experience with even having been on a campaign staff or even working phone banks would possibly know) You think you know, but however much you THINK.. you better just tell yourself it will be worse.
The Party maybe could have given that some thought, maybe they did, maybe they tried to warn him. My guess would b e they were dazzled by his millions and say Okay Great!
Every word on RoJo’s website, and every sock in his laundry basket will be gone over for possible “problems”.
You and I come here voluntarily, we know it might get unpleasant, even in anonymous Blog comments. Lots of people aren’t into this kinda crap.
They shouldn’t be dragged in to the Thunderdome just because it serves a guy’s temporary needs to meet a deadline. In reality, these days everyone is fair game. I don’t think they should be. Grandma shouldn’t have her words spun to be used against her son the candidate. That’s shitty. The crap should stay circulating amongst the people who are participating voluntarily.
That’s my belief. O_o see ya.

  5. Interesting that this employee said anything at all…I was told by a PACUR employee that they were not allowed to comment on Ron Johnson or the Senate Race.

  6. of course they werent, ron johnson already doesnt believe in the 2nd amendment why should he believe in the first!
