Chad Lee’s Objectivity

Chad Lee recently put out a TV commercial(how in the world did he raise enough for TV is another blog), but he rightly criticizes Incumbent Tammy Baldwin:

“Congress gave $700 billion of our tax dollars to Wall Street while they allowed 90,000 small businesses to go bankrupt. Tammy Baldwin’s vote for the Wall Street bailout means Wall Street works while America doesn’t …”

As the Cap Times correctly puts it,

Presumably, Lee will direct the same criticism at Congressman Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, the conservative icon who joined Baldwin in backing the bailout. If Lee is ready to suggest to voters that they should “send a message” to Ryan as well, then we certainly have respect for his consistency on the issue.

Lee might also want to issue an endorsement of U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., a stalwart foe of the Wall Street bailout who went against his own party’s leadership and presidential candidate Barack Obama to vote “no” back in 2008.

While I admire Lee’s campaign and hard work getting his message out, he appears to be like many of the other republican candidates as an intellectual lightweight. An endorsement of Feingold or an expansion of why Ryan should not also be “sent a message” would go a long way in erasing that impression.
