Ron Johnson dodges “We the People” debate

I’ve previously lamented the lack of willingness among candidates for elected office here in Wisconsin to debate each other, and while I had posited the number of debates between Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson and incumbent U.S. Senator Russ Feingold would be a number as close to zero as possible, Johnson’s campaign handlers somewhat surprisingly agreed to three debates between the two candidates. However, while Johnson’s handlers agreed to allow him to get crushed by Sen. Feingold in three debates, the three debates Ron Johnson has agreed to apparently doesn’t include the “We the People” debate scheduled for Oct. 22 in Madison. Johnson is believed to be the first statewide candidate to refuse to attend the “We the People” debate in the debate’s 18 year history.

Ron Johnson has given no reason for his refusal to attend the debate, which isn’t surprising given his penchant for avoiding answering any questions that might actually force him to think on his feet and form an original thought that hasn’t been spoon-fed to him by his campaign handlers.
