Russ Feingold: It has been a privilege to serve in the Senate

Here’s Sen. Russ Feingold’s statement thanking the citizens of Wisconsin for the opportunity to serve them in the United States Senate:

As I leave the Senate, I want to thank the people of Wisconsin for the incredible opportunity to serve them and to represent our state. Serving Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate has been the greatest honor of my life. I have been so proud to work for the people of our state and to continue the great traditions that run deep here, from the progressive movement to our commitment to bipartisanship and fiscal responsibility.

Most of all I am grateful for the people I have met as I have traveled to every corner of Wisconsin. Wisconsinites from every community have come to my listening sessions to share their ideas and concerns. What I heard in those meetings has informed everything I have done in the Senate, from working to improve education and health care to strengthening our democracy.

Those exchanges have been invaluable to me for the past 18 years, and I appreciate the time that so many people took to tell me what was on their mind, and to help me as I served our state.

Our state has a distinguished history of public service, and I am proud to be a part of that. I am deeply grateful for the chance I have had to represent the people of Wisconsin, and to help bring Wisconsin’s ideas to the U.S. Senate.

  1. You did not serve Wisconsin, you served the fat cat unions bosses and government employees. If you ever run for office we will double our efforts to see that don’t ever win!!!!

    1. Eh, everyone with common sense knows that Ron Johnson is just going to Washington D.C. and not looking back to Wisconsin.

    2. I see that you stand with management and against labor. Is that your only complaint about Sen Feingold? If so, you have nothing to complain about since 2000 as there have been no management-labor disputes since at least then.

  2. I don’t stand with management or against labor, I think for my self! Feingold has been very instrumental in destroying our country!!

    1. LOL.

See, I suppose that’s what makes conservatives different from liberals. Many mindless conservatives tend to only see their own personal views, nodding along with what Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Charile Sykes tells them, and they nod in agreement with those statements.

But hey, having a person who doesn’t do anything in the senate ever for Wisconsin or anyone else for that matter doesn’t matter because you got that disgusting liberal out right? 🙂

    2. Actually, you can go back to your nap for the next four years like you were doing during the Bush Administration. You can complain about the democrats again then when they get back into power, because right now? Wisconsin has a majority of Republicans. Cheers.

    3. And we all know that conservatives can do no wrong even if they’re a giant clusterfuck who ignore the victims of 9/11, veterans rights, and other various subjects.

So you can put all the blame on liberals again when the democratic majority comes swinging back with full force. ♥

    4. Please describe instrumental. He is one of 100 votes in the Senate. What efforts has he taken to warrant your ire?

    5. Give me one example of Feingold “destroying” our country, and I’ll give you five reasons why you’re wrong. If you can come up with two, I’ll give you ten. You haven’t been very coherent in expressing anything but your ignorance so I don’t think I have much to worry about.

    6. Gary, as others have written, I’d love to hear you cite some specific examples of how Sen. Feingold has been instrumental in destroying our country.

    1. I always cringe when Republicans are called conservatives too. Because many conservatives now days want to conserve the broken beyond belief administration of the Bush administration.

      1. Therefore, put Republicans all into that basket? Kind of makes me feel bad because I have a lot of intelligent republican friends or at least, former republicans now turned independent.

        1. I’m not assuming you’re a republican. I’m assuming you’re a conservative. There is a clear difference. 🙂
