Just a thought on MSNBC’s new nightly lineup

Last week Proud Progressive noted the departure of Keith Olbermann from MSNBC, with Olbermann’s last show airing last week Friday.

Last night marked the first night of MSNBC’s new nightly lineup, with “The Last Word” with Lawrence O’Donnell replacing Olbermann at 7 p.m. CST, “The Ed Show” with Ed Schultz moving to 9 p.m., and Cenk Uygur replacing Schultz at 5 p.m., and I have to say that I’m far from impressed with Uygur’s show. Whether you agreed with Keith Olbermann’s ideology or not, his show was well-produced, and while there’s still time for Cenk Uygur to turn things around, his first night on the job seemed pretty shaky.

  1. I saw this headline “CENK UYGUR COMPARES BECK TO A NAZI SAYS HIS PLAN IS TO GO AFTER FOX NEWS”, ok I understand his Beck reference that is a standard DNC directive for progressives, but what is the purpose of going after FOX news? Is he unable to carry a show with his own stories, is he so weak that he has to play a poor mans version of Overblown? Is MSNBC that desperate that they know they are unable to get ratings by doing NEWS that they depend on FOXES success to carry their under watched network. Just hysterical how desperate progressives have become to try and show themselves as relevant in this historical remaking of America.

    1. I’m not a fan of Cenk Uyger, but the video was broken out of context that you saw. Aka, splitting Cenk Uyger’s show with what he was saying about “going after Fox News” and the Nazi argument? They were two different conversations. Frankly, I think all media stations should be called up on their shit, get rid of these lunatics and get some intelligent people in office. Unfortunately, that’s not what gets the ratings. You only saw the headline, I watched the video that ‘proved’ it and it was two conversations taken out of context. Considering the conservatives been calling Obama a nazi terrorist socialist black muslim who wants to give abortions to all the babies in the world and make everyone become gay? He even said in the show “I don’t like using the Nazi argument, but historically they started blaming a certain group of people, before it escalated into hatred to destroy their businesses and hatred to eventually allowing them to be handed over to the Nazis.”

That argument, I can see very well as a part time historian. I’m still not a fan of him however.

    2. Did you watch the video? It was cut jarringly, and the parts with Uygur involved two completely different settings because they were from different videos on different subjects. I’d assume what he means when he says he’s going after FOX is that he wants to be hosting the most watched 6 o’ clock news show, so that he knows more people are receiving quality information rather than what some people call the biased news spewing from Fox.

  2. I am a fan of Cenk Uyger. The first time I heard him was at the FFRF Convention in Madison a couple of months ago in October, 2010. He received an award from FFRF for his speaking out about the many abuses of religion in human history. Go to You Tube and find many of his daily on-line “TV” shows. Though I will miss Olbermann, Cenk Uyger is a welcome addition to the MSNBC lineup. Take a look at some of the YOU TUBE videos of Cenk Uyger.

  3. I am surely not a fan of this guy. Every night, something critical about this President, come on guy, he’s not perfect, but geez! Give the guy a break, will ya?
