Topic of the Week: Libya

Earlier this week President Barack Obama outlined the steps taken by the United Nations, NATO, and the U.S. military to impose a no-fly zone and arms embargo on Libya due to the actions of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, who has cracked down on pro-democracy demonstrators in Libya, including using military force to quell the demonstrations.

President Obama has come under fire from both the left and the right for committing U.S. military assets to “a supporting role — including intelligence, logistical support, search-and-rescue assistance, and capabilities to jam regime communications,” and so I’d like to hear your thoughts on the situation in Libya and whether you agree with the steps President Obama has taken.

    1. I tend to agree that we don’t really know what we’re getting ourselves into. This has all the potential to turn into a morass.

  1. We should not be involved in Libya in any way, shape or form…and after a no boots on the ground declaration by our President…we have CIA agents working with the rebels…apparently they are wearing wing tips. Everyone keeps saying this isn’t like Iraq…well, no, now it isn’t. It’s starting to smell like Viet Nam circa mid-1950s. And that’s an era I really don’t care to revisit.
